Don't do what I do...cook eggs for eggsalad and go check this site. I just blew up two eggs (they exploded) and its a wonder the fire alarm did not go off. Now I have gone and ruined a good pot. It is so sad that it is too hilarious just thinking about what just happened. I totally forgot about my eggs cooking

Piwo ...must be exploding eggs is good for cleaning pots. I let water boil out long ago and it turned the pot dark inside. Now when scrubbing out the pot it looks like new.

Chris, I am sorry that it happened to you while doing such a good cause - checking this site Two days ago I was going to sleep (I still have problems with time adjustment) in the early evening and then... I could not understand where the noise comes from. I could not even remember that I have anything in the kitchen but I checked it.... and my salmon was almost completely overcooked and all the water from the pot already evaporated and... I did not even remember that I am cooking anything

I have heard of eggs exploding in the microwave, but not when boiled in water ... so I went looking on the internet. Didn't find anything relevant, except this wonderful oysanky site: www.gbarkman.com/eggs.html

Rdyw... and Jaga It sounds as if you need the memory retention course. I shudder to think what might happen next!! Alternatively, you could keep an additional, simple time alarm in the kitchen set at intervals before you go to bed - one with a discordant alarm note so that you have to go into the kitchen to turn it off. Set once or twice, the last time for just before the time you think you will go to bed, or even take this one into your bedroom with you. Good memories Leslie

Nancy ...nice site. I bookmarked for later. Jaga sounds like you need another vacation ;D. To catch up on sleep. Leslie....thank you for your suggestions. I think Jaga was more intersting than my egg cooking. I also see I am not alone. (scroll down to Stece on 10/05 posting) for explanation of exploding eggs. Oh and this is my first ever "kitchen disaster" in all my 59 yrs on this planet so I think I am doing good so far ;D uplink.space.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=phenomena&Number=351428&page=19&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=

c'mon, rdy, let's see MarieCurie's "you crack me up" egg over here ... I saw it the other night and thought it would fit right in on this thread. ;D

My brother when visiting my flat wanted to eat something and started boiling eggs (I was out, he had the keys). In the meantime he called somebody and immediately left. I came home a few hours later and found an empty pot (I don't remember if gas was still on). The remains of eggs were stuck to the ceiling!!! My brother was 20 then.
I think this disease is not Alzheimer's, it's called life.

That could almost be a thread in the cooking sections: Things that blew up in the kitchen: or "please pass the fire extinguisher" or "mom, what's that smell"... LOL ;D
