I was watching Americas Test Kitchen on PBS and they were testing measuring cups. They had several from steel (most expensive) to cheapest (rubbermaid..plastic) The Rubbermaid which they said ran about 3.49 and steel was at 20.00. I have a glass pyrex that I use. The Rubbermaid was the one they picked. Easy to read, easy to ladle into (due to wider mouth) and most accurate in measure. Who knew that what appears to be so simple could be so complex.

Gollies, I had no idea that measure cups were so expensive, or so varied. Perhaps the steel one was a good size and complex. Rubber maid sounds good, as it is in-expensive and would bounce it dropped on the floor.
We have two pyrex measure cups that I think were about the 3.50 mark in price. They are handy as there are two scales on either side, one marked in meteric and the other in US oz and cup.

The steel one had marks only to 3/4 fill and that meant that to get a full cup one had to fill to the very top. Try and move it once it is full to the top without spilling it. So that is why it failed the test. The others all lost in accuracy which they said equaled to at least 6 teaspoons which is quite alot for some recipes to fail or pass.
