A stunningly large multi floored library indeed so. It would be difficult to emagin the stress upon librarians to manage such a library. But then, this is what they do...
Your photo emage of the Black Forest is very excellent. On occassion dependant upon location, such a path way, if to watch a distance infront or in back. On occasion, will to observe a wild boar sow escorting her brood of piglets across the path in return into the forest that is their home. In the Tiergarten in Berlin, this would be named: Pig jamb. For whilst crossing the roadway, would give cause for a traffic stoppage.

These are interesting pictures. Soon the libraries may become very small since everything will be stored on small memory devices

The ideal Utopic library in my view has both electronic means (pc's, laptops, I-pads and beamers) and the old fashionate paper books. The library of the future will be multi-medial, multi-functional and a very interesting and exiting place for people who want to learn something, study and gain knowledge, information, experiance and to meet other people in a pleasent place. Next to a library the library of the future will be a meeting place with a multi-media café with wifi-connection, audio-visual means and exellent food and drinks (the good library of the future must have a good restaurant and café). The library will have to be an exhibition place too, a cinema and a place where workshops, seminars and courses take place. Look at the Arnhem libary ( het kenniscluster) for instance: The international Fashion biennale MOBA 2013 took place in the New Arnhem Liberary building, the knowledge cluster. The thema was the controversial 'subject' Fetishism in Fashion: moba.nu/en/I liked the exhibition because it had a very high level and it was close to fine art. Not only fashion. Next to Fashion, art, dialogue, communication, techniques (technology) and experiment were important. Back to the subject libraryThis wonderful building, het Kenniscluster ( the knowledge cluster), actually looks like these images shown here. It enriches Arnhem. And the Liberary will share the space with the peoples university (an organisation for adult education), the historical museum Arnhem, th e Art company Arnhem (Kunstbedrijf Arnhem) (an art education and art project organisation of the muncipality of Arnhem), and there will be a heritage centre about the history of the province of Gelderland, from which Arnhem is the capital.

This is a wonderful view of my city from the builders of the new Arnhem library the Kenniscluster. This is Arnhem from above!
The large bridge you see there I always use to drive back from a camera job in the city centre back to RTV-Arnhem in Arnhem South on the other side of the Rhine river. To enter the city I use the John Frost Bridge portrayed in the movie 'A bridge to far' when British and German Waffen-SS troops clash there. History is not far away in Arnhem. Arnhem has a complicated one way road system for cars. It is easier fro bikes than for cars and vans, trucks and busses. A typical problem for an European town/city in a densly populated area. That's why a lot of people like to use their bike or public transportation above their car. They use their car for short day trips or weekly shopping in shopping malls in the periphery of the city. Parking in the centre is a complicated and frustrating thing sometimes. Many Duthc people dislike the authorities for making it difficult to own a car, to park a car and to use a car, by making it expensive.

Pieter
Thank you very much for your very fine presentation and sharing of your life in Arnhem. My self, were to enjoy the details you have provided with descriptions. The panaramic view provided from the height of the Library Kenniscluster was most impressive...
Thank You
Karl

Amsterdam has a fantastic Modern library too. It is built next to the Central Station.
A girlfriend of mine who loves the Amsterdam public library takes the train from Arnhem to Amsterdam, goes to the library there. Spends some hours there, reading, looking around, using the internet there. Enjoying a drink on the restaurant level on the top of the building and probably a lunch and then goes back to the station and travels back to Arnhem. She goes to Amsterdam just for the library. It's that great as a multi-functional place to be. It is a destination for people from Amsterdam and other parts of the Netherlands. And like you see in the last video, also for visitors from abroad.
