Governor Crist forms Autism Task Force tinyurl.com/yqbnrv"Children are the future of our state and one of our most valuable resources," Governor Crist said. "This task force will work to bring together experts in the field of autism spectrum disorders to create a collective resource that will empower parents, teachers and communities, and establish a support system. I am committed to giving our children the best possible means for success, and I understand the toll this disorder can take on a family. I feel strongly that this task force will work to improve the lives of all Floridians who are affected by autism."

This is interesting ... Mary have you heard of this? Do hyperbaric chambers help autistic kids? tinyurl.com/2r9lswOne of the therapies they wanted to try was the hyperbaric chamber. The chamber increases oxygen to tissues, increases blood flow to tissue, and reduces inflammation according to Dr. David Berger. He's a holistic pediatrician at Wholistic Pediatrics. He advised Michael's parents on how the chamber helped other autistic children. "So more oxygen gets to the end tissues and what they've also been able to show is that the actual blood flow also increases." Michael's parents say they saw such an improvement in him that they purchased a machine for their home to make the therapy called “diving” more convenient. Michael spends 60 to 75 minutes in the chamber each day. Inclan says “The number of words that he could say has tripled and he began spelling rather complex words. That's when we learned that he was able to read."

Mary, Did you talk to your daughter yet? I am very curious about this. I am hoping that it is an avenue to explore.

Mary, Did you talk to your daughter yet? I am very curious about this. I am hoping that it is an avenue to explore. Yes I did. She knew a lot more about than I did. She's really up on anything to do with Autism. She has heard that it does indeed help some children, but, Ty's doctor (specialist) is against it for him at this time. He is very cautious and won't recommend anything until it is tested and completely safe. Unfortunately some parents are so desperate to get help for their kids that some have actually died from treatments, like chelation. My daughter has a lot of faith in this doctor and Ty has had good results so far with no setbacks. Every parent must make these tough decisions. I do think though trust in the Dr. is important. Otherwise you need to find another. Mary

Mary, Sounds as if your daughter has a very good doctor. I think to be cautious is a VERY wise thing. How are you doing otherwise? You had bit of a rough patch there, I have been wondering how you are doing.
