What a place to launch Hang Gliding!!! Noooo, thankyouuu! I am afraid of heights and would be several meters back from where this photo was taken, that is for sure.... This area as many in Bavaria is very beuitiful and rugged as note of the mountains. Some years back, was I as a tourist to travel by motorcycle over some of these roadways, and, it pays to be attentive,,or pay the price of an accident. I had a friend who worked at one of the mess halls in the military base in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with his friendship was also free lodging at one of the barracks he was allowed to use. By virtue of his working in the mess hall, was the ability to take home left over food for our supper,,those military people certainly do eat very well..... We had to purchase our own beer but whats a little sacrifice to deal with for our common good. The following url is a very good travel impression by an American Tourist. With his photos, were his views and sights he recorded on his journey which is both scenic and indictive to some of the sights one is to encounter whilst traveling through. If to click upon the wording in blue: Let the road trip begin- this will then enter onto his indicated map route. acoupletravelers.com/road-trip-bavaria/Karl

Bavaria is wonderful as much parts of Southern-Germany are. Baden-Württemberg with it's Black Forest. Bavaria has wonderful mountains, villages, towns and cities. I drove through it with friends on my way to a vacation in Southern-Bohemia in 1997. We stayed one nigth in a hotel in a wonderful Bavarian village. Made some wonderful walks there. It seems to me that the Bavarian mountains are close to the Alps.
