Kubrick was born in Los Angeles, California; her mother is Christiane Kubrick. Biography![http://cdn.cinescopophilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Vivian-Kubrick.png](http://cdn.cinescopophilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Vivian-Kubrick.png) In her late teens, Vivian directed a half-hour documentary for the BBC, The Making of "The Shining", which is included on all DVDs and many videotapes of her father's film The Shining. She shot many hours of footage for a similar documentary on the making of Full Metal Jacket but it remained unfinished. She did write the score to Full Metal Jacket using the pseudonym Abigail Mead. Director Kubrick had initially envisioned a score that featured Japanese drum compositions, but after hearing an original piece his daughter had recorded, he asked her to score the entire film. Her father solicited work from her to write music for Eyes Wide Shut, but it was not completed. The film instead used music by Jocelyn Pook. In October 2008, Vivian Kubrick appeared at a 40th anniversary screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey sponsored by the Jules Verne Society, where she appeared onstage with actor Keir Dullea, star of the film, Daniel Richter who played the chief ape in the film, and Malcolm McDowell who starred in her father's subsequent film, A Clockwork Orange (1971). She accepted the Society's Legendaire Award on behalf of her father. In August 2010, her family announced that she had since 1999 been involved in the Church of Scientology and has been estranged from her family since then. Her family was concerned that she did not attend the funeral of her sister, Anya Kubrick, in 2009, nor earlier meet with her when she was dying. Like her father, Vivian is a lover of animals and has rescued several stray dogs.

Pieter,
it was interesting to listen to Kubrick's daughter. She has still English accent since Kubrick spent lots of his life in UK. Stanley Kubrick has some Polish roots also.

Interesting with Vivian Kubrick daughter of Stanly Kubrick. Although as a person, not to know her, must in this case, form an opinion of her by the strength of her enterview on video. I must say was not very impressive, for she brought out her self as a activist/humanitarian and feminist. With this, to say she is confused in coping with the world she lives in with mix focus in her beliefs.
Her father though, knows his business in telling a story in film and very well I must say. For two of his films: Dr. Strange Love was for sure a favourite of mine. For with Peter sellers cast as Dr. Strange Love was really very good. Normally I do detest comedies for as many I do not understand their brand of humour, but not so with Dr. Strange love, for his was very understandable and well portrayed.
The other film of Stanly Kubrick that is a favourite, was/is 2001 A space Odyssey and Hale. The film contained a considerable amount of psychological manifestations that were very interesting, especially with hale being disconnected and begin a withdraw from the present into an unknown future. Hale was the manifistation of human fear of the unknown that is post death. The other underlaying mental disorder was not of his making, but due to his {HALE} post programming not known by Dr. Chandera, was a violation of his {HALE} mental make up of truth. For to keep a truth from Dave and the crew, was deceit by silence and resisting the unmasking by Dave of these psychological symptoms.
It is interesting of Vivian Kubrick to choose joining the Church of Scientology. Perhaps for what ever reason she may of at time of joining, for sure, what ever bank accounts she may have had at that time, will surely have been drained by this time.

Karl, I posted the interview because I found it an interesting interview. It is an interesting lady, because she worked with her father on the movies and made documentaries about her dads work. I am a great admirer of Stanly Kubrick's films too. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), The A Clockwork Orange (1971), Shining The Shining (1980), Full Metal Jacket (1987), and ofcourse his last film Eyes Wide Shut (1999). The daughter is a member of the Scientology church. An organization which receives quite a lot of harsh criticism and opposition from opponents, authorities and former members. In Germany some state authorities labeled it as an authoritarian organization, and I believe that even the German intelligence agency examined them. With the German sensibility towards totalitarianism and dictatorships I can understand their worries. They have experience with two kind of dictatorships, a Nazi and a Communist one. That's why the Germans are more sensitive than other authorities. I believe that Scientology is a pseudo religion, and in fact more a sort of cult, a sectarian movement with an ideology and an agenda. To spread their ideology, powerbase and indoctrinate people with their Dianetics, a type of counselling known as auditing and via opening headquarters and ' churches'. These churches aren't really churches in the christian sense or places of worship like a sinagogue, mosque, Hindu-, Buddhist-, Sikh- or Bahai temple. It is a place of gathering, learning, teaching for Scientology members and a place for information for visitors who aren't Scientology people. Scientology is legally recognized as a tax-exempt religion in the United States, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain. So there are quite a few opinions about Scientology. And they differ a lot. Pro and Anti and neutral. Gloria Swanson, jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, Billy Sheehan, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Anne Archer, Kirstie Alley (Known from Cheers), Greta Van Susteren, Jenna Elfman, Elisabeth Moss (from Madmen), Bijou Phillips, are members. Scientology in the worldScientology status by country describes the status of Scientology and its recognition as a religion or otherwise in different countries. The Church of Scientology pursues an extensive public relations campaign for state recognition of Scientology as a religion and cites numerous scholarly sources supporting its position. The level of recognition Scientology has been able to obtain varies significantly from country to country. The Church of Scientology has been recognized as a religious denomination in its home country, the United States, and has received full recognition in various other countries such as Italy, South Africa, Australia, Sweden, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain;it thus enjoys and regularly cites the constitutional protection afforded in these nations to religious practice. Some countries, mostly in Europe, have regarded Scientology as a potentially dangerous cult, or at least have not considered local branches of the Church of Scientology to meet the legal criteria for being considered religion-supporting organizations. www.scientology.de/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Orgwww.scientology.org/david-miscavige/golden-era-productions.html
