Our vacation this year was close to home, in the Berkshire mountains on the other end of our state. I had fun trying out our new digital camera: Mountains at sunset: Lake Pontoosuc, Pittsfield, Mass. I went on an evening hike: Driving home along the famous "Mohawk Trail"

Suzanne,
wonderful pictures. It almost looks that every leaf can be count separately, super-high resolution! I need to try to play with my camera a bit more also, I usually just minimize the size so that it does not take too much space to post the pictures. Your pictures looks almost 3-dimensional!
great job. you all look wonderful, although a bit conspicious due to the dark shade. I hope you had a great time.

Great photos Suzanne. Makes me think of where I grew up in Utica. (Adirondack Mountains and closer to the Catskills that I visited often) Although we have some hills nearby and the Finger Lakes just outside of Rochester they still don't compare to them. Back there I use to be able to drive and in the distance always see the mountains. Nice shot of the Mohawk Trail. Would that bring you to the Mohawk Valley.

Suzanne Thank you for sharing your photos of your area. The Berkshire Mountains are so scenic and beautiful! It appears to be a heavy mix of pine and broad leaf forest and low rolling mountains.. A place of adventure, hiking, quite other then listioning to your heart beat in your ears and the crunch of your foot steps. I would guess with the sun, the pines have a sweet smell. Your family, you are so blessed with a wonderful family, every one is so happy! Thank you again for sharing Charles

Jaga, Yes, I like this camera a lot, though I have to say, it takes much better outdoor pictures than indoor ones. The resolution on the outdoor ones is great, though.
Rdy, There are lots of lovely areas in upstate NY. I love the Mohawk Trail; it's a section of an old highway (route 2) that goes all the way to Boston (and probably all the way into NY in the other direction). It's been bypassed by the more modern Mass. Turnpike, but I like the old, meandering highways best if you don't need to get somewhere in a hurry.
Charles, Glad you enjoyed the photos! It's a rather thickly forested area, as you imagined, with areas of farmland, very lovely and peaceful. And yes, it's very much a place of adventure: the famous Appalachian Trail cuts through these mountains, so there's lots of opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers, skiers, etc.
