www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02gcvm7'Nazi' engineered cows 'would try and kill you'A herd of rare cows has been culled because they were too aggressive. Farmer Derek Gow says the Heck cow descended from cattle specifically bred by Nazi scientists between the world wars, to resemble the extinct ancestors of all cattle, aurochs. As a result of their aggressive behaviour, Gow had all but six of his herd destroyed: "We have a lot of people coming here [to the farm]." “With the original group, you simply couldn't walk through the fields. Some of the individuals were very aggressive.” "No matter where they were, they would come over and try to kill you." This clip was taken from 5 live Breakfast on Tuesday 6 January 2014. Leave it to the Brits to play around with some thing that is ours, not to mention the inflammatory use of Nazi in their terminology. Of course those cattle are not to play around with, for they are not milk cows and never entended to be so. They are in that stead, a very hardy, sturdy breed of domestic cattle with strong instincts of survival.
They do have their uses though with some plans in the manner of nature management and natural grazing. In this manner, the animals are very useful in such conservation plans in the rewild of large tracts of land.
To own such animals as milk cows,,,well, each to their own.
But as a personal noten: My self was once knocked off a thick wooden planked fence whilst sitting with my back away from some of these animals. I was not to hear the bull nor think otherwise until finding my self flying off the fence, landing flat on my back on the ground and looking up at his face staring down.

Karl, when I see nazi ina headline or title I first think of sensationalism and the US scandal sheet National Enquirer, where they will quickly inventa headline to sell newspapera, such as "nazi aliens spawned Putin, and did it on a bet with Hitler" I believe a quick search will reveal the story behind restauration of auroch. In fact one search came up with a scientific tie to reataurationin Poland The Aurochs is about to return to the mountains of Central Europe www.eurowildlife.org/news/the-aurochs-is-about-to-return-to-the-mountains-of-central-europe/

Kai Thank you for your interesting reply, I was not aware of this project for the Auroch to be located in the Czech Republic. Dependant upon location, they as grazing animals should do very well. Much is dependant upon of course the human element. If the hunters and pouchers will leave them alone, they should prosper.
The animal I had a run in with as a young man, was my understanding a Auroch decendant. Who knows for sure, just simply what I was told, and to leave it alone. What I do know for sure is that particular bull had a very nasty temper If that is what it takes for their survival, they should prosper very very well.
I do opologize for my out burst in the manner of Nazi terminology. After all these years, I do become tired of the constant label of Nazi on any thing unpleasant. But, as you say, this is life and we must live with some things out of respect to others.

I am not sure if this is caught by others, but your German translation of the sign: Do not breath under water? And, your answer of: Why not. That is comical, for if to try and breath under water, it would mean to drown.
You do have such a sense of humour that is commendable I must say...
