This weekend I was in het world of Kickboxing. I am following a Moroccan Dutch Kickbox school in Arnhem South now for maybe half a year.
I made several episodes of for my camjo project (camera journalist: Being the cameraman, interviewer and editor in the same time).
At his sport club children, boys and girls, young men and women and adults train in kickboxing. Some become professional, others stay
amateurs, and jus box for excercise and fitness purposses.
This weekend there was the Kickbox gala King of the Ring in Westervoort, a place near Arnhem. These are two video/tv reports I made about it:
My camera had a technical problem and that's why I filmed the last fight with my I-phone. I was irritated (pissed) that my tv camera gave up on
me. The quality of the I-phone video is less good. To bright light and colors, but I had to film that fight. I was the most important fight
of the evening in the A-class fight between Mohammed Boubkari and Louis Tavares. There were also fights in de B-, C-, and N-classes.
I am a perfectionist and was pretty annoyed that the camera (SD-card) malfcuntioned on me. Luckily the music was loud, because I was screaming and
shouting like the crowd. Some curses or swearwords came out of my mouth. I am not proud of that,l but it is terrible when in a tense and important
moment technical failure blocks your path. It'sd something TV, Radio and music Audio people (PA-men) have to deal with. Technics can fail on you.
And my spare SD card didn't save me, because the SD card was stuck in my camera. Thank god the images (movies weren't erased).
Saturday they were checked, if theur weight was good (not to heavy, not to light)
(Maybe less interesting for you, because you don't understand Dutch, but it shows the atmosphere and the cool and macho attitude of the fighters,
who are sitting next to their oponent for the next day. I have some difficulties in pronouncing the Berber Moroccan names, that is funny.)
Sport is about emotion, dedication, setting goals, mental and physical preparation and personalities and characters of the sporters.
This are older episodes about Omar Gym. I don't remember if I posted them yet. If I did, I am sorry. I don't want to show of my work, but to show you what I do for a living and because I like it.
This are the episodes about the kickboxschool itself:
