I think perhaps a person must listion well to the good general giving the commencement speech at a graduating military academe. If listioned with understanding, his message is well provided, for he is speaking of using the training and education provided by the academe for the once students now graduated officers. Now prepared to serve their nation, to then meet with the tools of their preporation and training, a changing world, to be flexable, professional and provide leadership.
Little green men is a metaphor in reference to the Ukrainian civil war with past Russian solders stripped of identifying uniform insignas fighting for ethnic Russians living in Ukraine.
It has been a historic mistake of our various Generals enitially fighting a new war on the premises of the past war. For most all things change from the past with new weapons/different situations/different arenas for use of weapons/different conditions not conductive of past wars.
With out war, we would have no use for generals and weapons, our respective economies would greatly be improved for the sake of each society.
Unfortionatly, we do have wars, and commensuratly, we must have our generals and weapons for protection of our respective way of life. As such, we need such experienced generals as this presentation has disclosed for to provide to each respective graduating class of new officers the reasons of their existence, reality of what they will be facing, the training and education that the academy has provided to give them the tools of success.

John, you probably understand a military language better than me. Military guys are big and feel better and stronger than everybody else. So calling somebody "small green men" shows a condescending message. It seems that these are martians... but do muslims have also green book devoted to Islam? Who knows....

Karl Thank you Karl. I didn't pick up on the metaphor of "Little Green Men". I had an entirely different explanation emerging.

Karl, I listened to this video and I am still not sure what the little green men means but it could be a metaphore for Ukraine, or for environmentalists or just for anything unusuall... to attract the attention of the students. The general said that the world is complex and I liked his comparisons, he did not try to instill more fear in us.... Often teachers use different metaphors to made students more interested in the subject, instead of doing everything more patethic and monumental

J.J. and Jaga The good general is caught in a situation of political requirement. In his speech to the graduating class, he is prevented from directly identifying those solders as Russian so in this instance, used the common term of: Little Green Men, or polite little men if European. This is reference to the colour of their uniforms and unconfirmed origen. Russian uniforms as used in Europe, are green bdu flecktarn camouflage. www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26532154Karl
