;D My wife and I were visiting our daughter's home. After the visit my wife showed me a book and said "look at what your daughter gave us". I replied "it's the Fannie Farmer cookbook that she filched from us many, many years ago. This cookbook is a treasure and hard to find. ;D

It is indeed a treasure! I have lots of cookbooks, but it's one of only about 3 that I ever use with any regularity. Is it really hard to find? I thought it was being widely published, but I hope it hasn't gone out of print! There are lots of pretty and trendy cookbooks out there that don't teach a person anything about food, cooking, etc. The F.F. one is very unique in that it's a kitchen education in and of itself.

Suzanne I agree with you. I have one (given to me as a gift) and love it. I also consider it a must have in every kitchen. There are plenty cookbooks out there but this one is the "Bible" of the kitchen.

;D Chris and Suzanne, you're both correct. No "flashy photos" or or trendy recepies but it is a treasure of "How to Cook. My book has a few illustrations, measuring tables, conversions and a lot of how-to. I don't think there is another book that can compare to this one. If I see another one somewhere I'll snap it up as if it were a kilo of Gold. ;D ;D

My Fannie Farmer cookbook is in pieces-the binding has broken free allowing several sections/pages to be free. Too much wear & tear/use? Another really good cook book to have is the original copy of "The Joy of Cooking." No flashy photos-just basic recipes. I break out my cookbooks when I want to "experiment." Joyce TX

sniff sniff...I lack in the Polish cookbook area. I do have a small Polish Heirloom spiral type cook book-printed in the 1960's. Joyce TX
