I remember as a young boy, there was a market called Susmans. When you went to the fish counter they had a large fish tank on the back wall. I mean it was huge. It had to have been 5 ft wide by a couple of feet deep and about 3 ft tall. In it were dozens of eels. As a person wanted one or two they would net it place in a container and sold to the person for dinner. The tank was fascinating to watch.
As a young boy we used to go fishing down at the river wiith drop lines and dead shiners. Caught many an eel and cleaned them. Pan fried in butter or in a fish stew they were delicious.
How is it prepared now in Poland?
