Did you ever try it? This is something different than coffee (although in Polish coffee is called kawa).
Anyways, in Kona there was a small bar/pub where people were drinking this strange drink. It suppose to relax our muscles, there is also a danger that they would make it illegal. John was very curious about it and he wanted even to buy some, but we did not know how to exactly to prepare it. Besides, it did not taste that good, but I guess, if somebody drinks coffee the first time it does not taste that good also!

No, I haven't tried it, but I have been to Kaaawa! ;D It's been a few years since I've been to Hawaii nei, but I never heard of a "special coffee" ... RATS for the bad luck. I'm a coffee nut!

piwo, what "kaaawa" you mean? I did not feel like drunk after drinking Kava but it had a strange taste. It did make us feel relaxed. I drunk frozen kava whereas my husband drunk a regular hot drink. Chris, thanks for suggestions. I see that you changed your picture

Chris, thanks for suggestions. I see that you changed your picture Kaaawa is a tiny village on the Windward side of Oahu. The "W" in Hawaiian is pronounced like the "w" in Polish, and all the vowels are pronounced, and sound same as Polish vowels (not like in English). It's like Polish Kawa, only with a stutter. That is why I said I've never had Kava, but been to Kaaawa. Do a google search and you will find it on the map. It is just a tiny village, but if you try to "drive around the island" (you can almost do it), you will drive through it.
