Hello, I used to get the most wonderful Paczki from a southside bakery, in Orland Park, IL where their Paczki were not glorified jelly donuts, but huge delicious morsels packed with wonderful fillings. I mean these were the size of a smallish softball... Does anyone have a recipe for Paczki that isn't like the typical ones you find online, the donut-like ones? These were more like little cakes, split in half, filling with various jellys and creams, and dusted with powdered sugar. The texture had more of a chewy consistancy. God, I stood in line when I was 9 months pregnant for those things on Fat Tuesday and I missed them and crave them so much! If anyone can help me it's greatly appreciated!!

Thank you for the links and the warm welcome. I have spotted a couple of these recipes before and I'm not sure if they are like the ones that I'm talking about. I guess the only way will be for me to try to make each recipe. which I won't mind too much, heehee.
but really, thanks for the help. If anyone does come across what I think, might actually be called Polish-American style paczki, please let me know!
Have a great weekend! Go BEARS! Brenda

Brenda, The examples I found were off the Internet but are still similar to what I found in my Polish Heritage Cookery cookbook. You say you already looked on the Internet but did not find the description of the item from the bakery. That does not sound like a typical paczki recipe (meaning it was fried in oil) Sounds more like it was called that but their own version. So since I am not really sure as I have not seen or tasted and only going by your own description it may be hard to find what you ae truly looking for.
