Hello
Zakłady im. "Manifestu Lipcowego", or "22 lipca". I cannot remeber exactly, but it was one of these two.

Yanc,
yes, Zaklady 22 lipca. You are a winner.
22 lipiec means 22 July. Why that? Does anybody except Yanc knows?

I believe that on July 22, 1944, the Soviet's declared their Liberation Manifesto which officially set up the communist rule and broke all ties with the exiled Polish government. I'm not sure why they would name a chocolate factory after that date, but there are a lot of things about communism that I don't understand.

Tex,
you are very right. The name was changed after the date when Soviet-controlled Polish government was established in Lublin.

Jeanne, It would ahve been appropraite if they did name it after such a sweet deal as 'communism'. The fancy (communist time) chocolates I bought to bring back to the US .. uh, ... tasted a bit like Hershey chocolate mixed with 50% uncooked flour. In a word close to the truth, they were a little bit terrible. Now I never did try Polish chocolate, so maybe they tasted a bit more like ... you guess! Kai
