:DWar on fake sheep’s cheese 12.03.2007 Producers of the local sheep cheese in the Polish Highlands have hit on a way to avoid EU regulations. When the cheese, called oscypek, is registered as a traditional regional product, with controlled origin, all other cheeses which do not contain the correct proportions of ewe’s milk and cows’s milk will be considered fakes. This could concern many of the cheeses sold in the Polish Highlands. However local residents have devised a collection of new local sounding names for the fake oscypek and plan to go on selling their wares. They say that this is quite be legal – and that the tourists won’t know anyway!
