The incident is reportedly a domestic drama.Three people were reported to have died and another to have suffered severe injuries in a shooting incident in Dordrecht, about 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of the port city of Rotterdam, on Monday.
Miriam Slot, a police spokeswoman, told Reuters news agency that a 34-year-old Dutch policeman shot and killed his two young children and himself at a home in Dordrecht on Monday evening.
Slot said that the policeman also shot and seriously wounded his 28-year-old wife. The children were reportedly aged eight and 12.
Police spokesman Wim Hoonhout told The Associated Press that the shooting "seems like a family incident."

Police and mayor react to the press:
The police spokeswomen said the same as in the article but less. She couldn't say much else than that the police are investigating this murder and suicide scene.
The mayor was at the street and neighbourhood of the scene. He was there to check the situation and spoken with citizens who live in the neighbourhood and who wanted to talk with him. Tomorrow there will be a press release. The mayor said that a Police officer killed his two daughters of 8 and 12 years old and wounded his wife. A relation drama is probably the cause of this terrible drama.

These tragedies take place in the Netherlands and other countries. Wonder what drives people to such dramatic moments that they kill their loved ones?
These kind of freaks live in the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, the USA, Canada and probably every nation. Lose canons!

Pieter
Yes, I do agree, these situations are both deplorable and tragic. The Police man, it is difficult to understand his actions against his family and since he is dead, there is no way he has the option to describe his reasons of killing his children and almost his wife. At present, his wife as the only survivor is the only link of information to why the situation was to unfold.
Human beings are subject to all the senses that we are equipt with, with this, the good and bad is variable to emotions and conflicts. This in self is subject to variables such as out side influences/health/mental attitude and all things that nature as provided to us mentally and body wise. Situations of out side influences though, may upset the balance of a persons senses to an extent they may strike out in their mental defence.
Police and military people are weapons trained and with this, they have certain reflexes that are of the position they are trained to be proficient in the use of such weapons as part of their work. It then becomes then to their mental state of mind the may be enfluenced by out side sources such as excess stress/injuries/home life and what ever that over comes the human manner of protection of both the family/them selves/the public they serve.
The training these people receive will include the killing of another human being in such circumstances that is equitable to the event. It is when such events as excessive stress, or similar situations that over come the protective manner of senses, that then turns that individual in to an efficient killer.
Please consider the above as speculation for as not a professional analysis.
