John, this is one more reason to get out of this place. At least the world realized that Taliban is not the worst enemy of the US. Al queda and ISIS are worse.

They are also making fun of us. From a posting of news from Slovakia: The Taliban are making fun of the Americans. In American tactical equipment, they imitate a famous photo of Slovak M. Strank. ๐ฆ๐ซ๐บ๐ธ๐ช Thousands of people shared a photo of the Taliban mocking the Americans. The author of the original photo is photographer Joe Rosenthal, who worked for the Associated Press. The photo shows six American soldiers - sailors. One of them, Michael Strank, was born in Slovakia and came from the village of Jarabina. His family later emigrated to the United States, where he acquired American citizenship. He eventually perished in the battle of Iwo Jima. He contributed to the end of World War II. However, the Slovak from the well-known photo did not live to see peace More than 6,500 American troops were killed in the battle of Iwo Jima, a small island 660 miles south of Tokyo. The island was strategic to reverse the course of the war. It housed fighter jets that shot down American bombers. The invasion began on February 19, 1945, with about 70,000 sailors fighting 36,000 Japanese troops for 36 days, according to the Times of Israel.

Kai, interesting. American media don't brag about it, but lots of American weapons for Afghani army became now trophies in hands of Taliban. Here is just one of many reports: www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/planes-guns-night-vision-goggles-talibans-new-us-made-war-chest-2021-08-19/"Everything that hasn't been destroyed is the Taliban's now," one U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters. Current and former U.S. officials say there is concern those weapons could be used to kill civilians, be seized by other militant groups such as Islamic State to attack U.S.-interests in the region, or even potentially be handed over to adversaries including China and Russia. (For a graphic on the airport chaos at Kabul, click here: tmsnrt.rs/3stVpcj)President Joe Biden's administration is so concerned about the weapons that it is considering a number of options to pursue.
