Pieter
The following is of a personal opinion of expression of leadership be it others, or our own, this case: Nikita Khrushchev.
Be it good or rather bad, but one thing is undeniable about Nikita Khrushchev, he was a leader and not a follower. His many points of getting his point across with out mincing words was the event at the end of one of his speeches, was the event of removing his shoe and beating it loudly on the podium before departing.
A masterful act upon his part for the sight of him first removing his shoe then banging it quit forcefully with a loud sudden sound. This most certainly burnt his message into the minds of his audience rather they agreed with him or not so.

Hello Peter,
thanks for bringing the videos, but I wish I had a time to see it all. I agree with Karl that Chruszczow (this is Polish pronunciation of his name) was different from the crowd before and after him until Gorbatchev, although Russians did not like both of them, since they exposed the weakness of the Soviet system.
