It feels that we have more strange weather systems going through than in the past, even our public radio in Idaho talked about it today: Floods in Italy kill 10; Survivors plucked from roofs, treesapnews.com/article/floods-trees-italy-climate-and-environment-ad6d39d3a93cfe18f98e1bcaedce34ba CANTIANO, Italy (AP) — Flash floods swept through several towns Friday in hilly central Italy after hours of exceptionally heavy rain, leaving 10 people dead and at least four missing. Dozens of survivors scrambled onto rooftops or up into trees to await rescue. Floods invaded garages and basements and knocked down doors. In one town, the powerful rush of water pushed a car onto a second-story balcony, while elsewhere parked vehicles were crumpled on top of each other in the streets. Some farm fields near the sea were meters (yards) under water. “It wasn’t a water bomb, it was a tsunami,” Riccardo Pasqualini, the mayor of Barbara, told Italian state radio about the sudden downpour Thursday evening that devastated his town in the Marche region near the Adriatic Sea. He said the overnight flooding left the town’s 1,300 residents without drinking water. A mother and her young daughter were missing after trying to escape the floods, Pasqualini told the Italian news agency ANSA. Elsewhere in town, a boy was swept away from the arms of his mother, who was rescued.

Jaga,
It is sad that this happens to the beautiful, old and historical Italy. Not only lives will be lost again and people whom are wounded. But also ofcourse the people who will have lost loved ones and th great damage to old houses, churches and households which were build by generations of people.
It is quite sad to see this in met and more European nations. Also in the South-East of my country, in Belgium, parts of France, Germany, Poland and the Czech republic.
Governments and private enterprises and people themselves have to think about public space and how we live and work in some area’s. In some places near rivers, chanals, mountains people didn’t give enough space to rivers to expand when they have to digest masses of mountain and rain water. Germans, Dutch, Italians, Poles and others build houses on river shores or under rock formation in mountain area’s.
Avalanches, hurricanes, typhoons, Cyclones, Storm surges, fast rising river or stream levels can cause heavily harm in the densly populated, narrow build streets with little space between houses and buildings in Europe.
The Climate change will continue to grow and we will have to get used to the disasters and mourn the dead women, children abd men who die in these disasters.

Jaga,
Very sad story to read about the Italian mother and her young daughter that are missing after trying to escape the floods.
These personal stories and dramas are the ones that touch you. From a human understanding. I see my sister and her little daughter.

Jaga and Pieter
It is quite devastating to observe the results of mother nature when she is angry. Man will shoot into the air, but never hit the sky, and so it is as it is.
My self would tend to believe those of us that have lived are living near the North Sea become jaded with storm violence and are not easily shocked by such scenes as we are experiencing, but this is very much akin to a nightmare of events.
