Pieter, thanks for showing different perspectives. Ot was refreshing to hear the 5th in the FoxNews not to talk politics but focus on Russia and being against Putin. Some of these folks do not know anything about Ukraine, one of the guys in this show is actually married to a Ukrainian woman but his knowledge of the place is very low.... I think Putin is becoming too desperate and too crazy. As it was said - many young people rather leave the country than stay and fight and die, or kill others. Russia had to withdraw from Afghanistan, they would have to do the same in Ukraine.
From the very first so many months previous of Mr. Putin's actions in activating his military with the invasion of Ukraine has not made much sense. Now with his military in such dire straits brings his back to the wall so to speak, and with this, a loss of face with the Russian public he represents. Whilst once again the ugly truth arises on both sides of the fence. For one is the age-old Russian fear of encroachment of Western military armies to invade Russian soil, and these fears were justified of over 80 years in past with our former government order of invasion of the Eastern front being both Poland and The Soviet Union at that time. It would so appear Western memories are short in as with most all Western news media that have propagated news of the Ukraine war as a tool for propaganda to enhance interest to sell their stories to an interested public. With this, the tool of using stories that instigate emotional responses to Western people of the ugly face of war, emotional stories sell news and is very profitable.
We do have a reality that is real and present, and that is the Americans seemingly hate of Russia for whatever reason is beyond this responder. This hate is manifested in the US of NATO encroachment towards the Russian borders in a surrounding manner, and in short past to the present, are using Ukraine as a possible candidate as a new member as a possible spark that could light off another global war. For if to observed in past actions upon the Americans, it was first to use Poland as a neutral area away from homeland law against water boarding of prisoners and not face prosecution other than international condemnation. It was then found to be a good idea of using the Polish hatred of Russia to advance American idealism using this hatred to the advantage of placing military forces in Poland as another hedge against The Russian Federation.
The above is not a condemnation of Americans or their good nation of The United States, but simply plain observational talk.
No matter the viewpoint or argument, the people that will be hit first in a nuclear strike will be us, and speaking at least for myself, and I am quite sure, most all will agree, I do not enjoy this likelihood of occurring with the United States next, for nuclear weapons do not care what they hit, they just explode.
