This video is made by the same people who made the Referendum for all Russians: do you want to join Holland? video.
In this comical video you see a portrait of the Dutch journalist and newsreporter Gerri Eickhof on the White House desk at the Oval office and therefor I know this is a Dutch video and a product of The Satirical Evening Show with Arjen Lubach | of the VPRO Broadcast Corporation. Also due to the end of it, because you see Arjen Lubach in it. It is a brilliant and probably the best Dutch comedy and statirical show. It several reached world fame by it's satirical video scetches. Most famous was the Dutch, America First - The Netherlands Second - Donald Trump video. It is a Dutch style show which you could compare with The Daily Show of Craig Kilborn (1996–1998), Jon Stewart (1999–2015) and Trevor Noah (2015–).
Gerri Eickhof
Gerri Eickhof (Amsterdam, 21 March 1958) is a Dutch journalist who works for the National Public News tv chanal's NOS news program, the NOS Journaal. He was a respected professional foreign correspondent and is a respected Dutch National News (NOS Journaal) reporter with a lot of experience. NOS Journaal is a news program on television from the NOS. It is broadcast daily on NPO 1, NPO 2 and NPO Politics and News. A new newscast is broadcast every half hour from 6:30 am to 9:00 am. From 9.00 to 20.00 there is a new news every hour, except at 19.00, when the NOS Jeugdjournaal (NOS Youth News program) is broadcast. There is also a news block in Nieuwsuur at 9.30 pm and there is a late news around midnight. In addition, bulletins have also been broadcast on public radio stations since 2005 under the name NOS Journaal.
Youth
Eickhof had a Native Dutch mother. His father is unknown, but is probably of Surinamese descent. Eickhof grew up in Tuindorp Oostzaan in Amsterdam. He and his mother lived with her parents.
Career
Eickhof started his career in journalism after studying anthropology when he heard on the radio that Migranten Television Amsterdam (Migrant Television Amsterdam) was looking for people who wanted to follow a program maker course. After he had completed the course, he was allowed to do an internship at the current affairs program Kenmerk of the IKON for a year. Eickhof then sent an open application to the NOS Journaal, editorial office abroad.
Eickhof started as an editor abroad, before moving on to the position of reporter. He worked in crisis areas such as Congo-Brazzaville, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Rwanda and Burundi. During the Kosovo war in 1999, Eickhof reported from Belgrade. He caused some commotion by reporting in the NOS Journaal with a target on his lapel, in protest against a bombing of a Serbian TV channel. He works most of his time in the Netherlands. For some time he also accounted for his journalistic choices and dilemmas in weblogs.
Racism
From his childhood, Eickhof has personally had a lot to do with racist treatment. As a child he was regularly abused by a group of children, who called him 'black person' and 'black pete' (Zwarte Piet), among other things, and pelted him with pebbles and clods of earth. Even as an adult, he was confronted with overt racism and incidents that could be seen separately as incidents, but could not all be attributed to coincidence, such as 42 arrests without concrete reason.
Books
Eickhof is also a writer. These books have been published:
- 2009 With the tram (Dutch tile: Met de tram door Amsterdam) by Amsterdam Publisher Conserve ISBN 9789054292890 In the series Nederland series, written by NOS reporters. A book in which Eickhof describes 16 tram routes over 213 kilometers.
