www.e-freetranslation.com/This is a website where you can get translations. Most don't have polish, but this one does. I just wrote a letter in English and had it translated to Polish, cut and pasted to a word doc and it will be in the mail tomorrow! Mary (now I can copy and paste and find out what you all are hiding from the rest of us... Just kidding!)

It may only serve as a source of good humor for people speaking both languages

Mary, I use this site as well. The problem with the translator is that is gives you a very strict word for word translation. Polish Grammar is VERY different than English grammar. The translator thus gives you a fractured sense of what is actually intended. If you go to a Polish site and try to reverse translate (Polish to English) I think you will see what I mean. I suggest trying to translate a news story from www.interia.pl/ and see what you get. However, all is not lost! With practice and study you can begin to untangle what is going on and you can teach yourself to take into account the differences in grammar structure and begin to really translate like a pro.

Holly & Livia,
Thanks for the input and suggestions. I'm hoping the letter will be good enough to get my message across if it ever reaches anyone.
I found several old letters written by my Grandmothers niece to Grandma back in 1971 & 1972. I had a local woman translate them for me. I got an address and her name as well as the children who at the time were 20, 17 & 15. I'm not sure if the niece would still be living, but am hoping that a family member is still at that address.
I figured it was worth a shot. I'll let you all know if I get a reply.
