'Jets coalition': Zelensky hints at 'important decision' on fighter jets in Russia Ukraine war
'Jets coalition': Zelensky hints at 'very important decision' to come on fighter jets in Ukraine war. Rishi Sunak warmly embraced 'inspirational' Volodymyr Zelensky today as they held talks at the PM's country residence. Mr Sunak announced that the UK will provide air defence missiles and drones, and is set to push for more international support for Kyiv when he attends the G7 gathering in Japan and Council of Europe in Reykjavik later this week. Last week it emerged the UK had become the first country to provide long-range precision missiles to Ukraine. The Storm Shadow cruise missiles, accurate to beyond 150 miles, are expected to be at the heart of the much anticipated counter-offensive against Russian occupiers. But the prospect of the UK supplying fights jet has effectively disappeared, despite Mr Zelensky visiting in February and presenting the Commons Speaker with a pilot's helmet. Instead the RAF will help train Ukraine forces on using Western jets, with No10 insisting Kyiv has 'decided' to focus on F-16s - which Britain does not use.

Pieter
First though, I must say as not a strategist in arial combate machines such as the Russian designed MIG 29 and American F16, but only of a comment to present.
As a universal general rule, it is not usually wise to use mixed machines such as aircraft we are speaking of. For not only effective pilot use in combate is generally their use of common type of which they have the skills in using their arial machine to the fullest of capability. With this, is the maintenance and spares to have on hand with a supply chain that is secure.
The next in line of situation awareness, is the Ukraine conflict so far has been a ground with air support for ground forces. These fighter aircraft are excellent for arial combate and fighter screen use, but some what at odds in air to ground support.
Perhaps there will be comments to the contrary, this would be welcomed I must say. never too old to learn.
