"There are irreversible laws of war. If it comes to nuclear weapons, there will have to be a pre-emptive strike,"
Medvedev said.
Allowing Ukraine nuclear weapons - a step no Western state has publicly proposed - would mean "a missile with a nuclear charge coming to them", Medvedev was quoted as saying.
"The Anglo-Saxons do not fully realise this and believe that it will not come to this. It will under certain conditions."

J.J. Of this situation as a reply, for myself am not an Anglo Saxon, but must speak on the behalf as a North Frisian that falls into the mix of Northwestern Europe. The question of who wins or lose is not a question, the question is: Diplomacy: This little Ukrainian leadership fellow always wearing a sweatshirt at foreign meetings best get off his butt whilst he has a country left. For it is being destroyed through this war he was not to start other than backing an 8 years' war against fellow Donbas Ukrainians that are pro-Russian. The Ukrainians possessed nuclear weapons by default, for those were owned by the Soviet Government and were pulled out some years in past, with exception of a bad count of one missile unaccounted for. Unless the Ukrainians were to be given nuclear weapons for their use against Russian forces, it would take some years for them to develop, refine the material for a nuclear weapon, in Reality this is not a question of concern. What is a question of concern, is the obtaining from Pakistan, radioactive material for construction of dirty bombs. This is a concern, for if this issue was to come to light, then the action light will certainly light up for Mr. Putin to then back up his warnings with use of active nuclear weapons from his quite numerous arsenals kept for such events. For the sake of the Ukrainian people though, Diplomacy must be and needs be, the action target to achieve. A bit of back ground perhaps useful of 30 past years. www.npr.org/2022/02/21/1082124528/ukraine-russia-putin-invasionOh now, not so quick, there is more: Mr. Putin has a problem, that is honouring a document signed as a pledge by his former Government: The document of: Budapest Memorandum, or has this been forgotten in the yellowed pages of past? www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2014/12/04/the-budapest-memorandum-and-u-s-obligations/ Karl

Folks, This war will last for years and maybe even decades like Dmitry Medvedev predicted in Vietnam. Dmitry Medvedev is the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia since 2020. Medvedev also served as the president of Russia between 2008 and 2012 and as the prime minister of Russia between 2012 and 2020. In this large military conflict, the largest military conflict in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945) military tactical and strategic aims play a role next to Financial-economical, food security, human rights, Global Geopolitics between the East and West and last but not least diplomacy. In the sense of Financial, military, political backing and geopolitical importance this war has elements of a (stil little) World War. Aspects of the First World War, Second World War, the Cold War, the Bosnian War (6 April 1992 – 14 December 1995), the Croatian War of Independence (1991-1995) and the Kosovo War (from 28 February 1998 until 11 June 1999) are present in the present day Russo-Ukrainian War (2014-2023….). It is an unstoppable and uncontrollable and unmanageble war, because the 2 sides have opposing absolute objections and both seem not to be able to back down, tactical/strategic retreat nor are able to establish a long lasting peace in the forseable future. Putin lies his whole existence and importance of his leadership and power behind this war. Putin and Medvedev talked and talk about defeating ‘this Neo-Nazi regime’ in Kiyv and liberate Ukraine. This talk about a Neo-Nazi regime is nonsense if you know that the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy is Jewish and an Independent President. Born to a Ukrainian Jewish family, Zelenskyy grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih, a major city of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine. So in heart he isn’t even anti-Russian, because Russian is part of his heritage. Zelensky has positioned himself as an anti-establishment and anti-corruption figure. As president, Zelenskyy has been a proponent of e-government and of unity between the Ukrainian- and Russian-speaking parts of the country's population. Zelensky’s administration faced an escalation of tensions with Russia in 2021, culminating in the launch of an ongoing full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. Zelenskyy's strategy during the Russian military buildup was to calm the Ukrainian populace and assure the international community that Ukraine was not seeking to retaliate. He initially distanced himself from warnings of an imminent war, while also calling for security guarantees and military support from NATO to "withstand" the threat. After the start of the invasion, Zelenskyy declared martial law across Ukraine and a general mobilisation of the armed forces. During his presidential campaign, Zelenskyy said that he supported Ukraine's becoming a member of the European Union and NATO, but he said Ukrainian voters should decide on the country's membership of these two organisations in referendums. At the same time, he believed that the Ukrainian people had already chosen "eurointegration". Zelenskyy's close advisor Ivan Bakanov also said that Zelenskyy's policy is supportive of membership of both the EU and NATO, and proposes holding referendums on membership. Zelenskyy's electoral programme claimed that Ukrainian NATO membership is "the choice of the Maidan and the course that is enshrined in the Constitution, in addition, it is an instrument for strengthening our defense capability". The program states that Ukraine should set the goal to apply for a NATO Membership Action Plan in 2024. The programme also states that Zelenskyy "will do everything to ensure" that Ukraine can apply for European Union membership in 2024. Two days before the second round, Zelenskyy stated that he wanted to build "a strong, powerful, free Ukraine, which is not the younger sister of Russia, which is not a corrupt partner of Europe, but our independent Ukraine". In October 2020, he spoke in support of Azerbaijan in regards to the Nagorno-Karabakh war between Azerbaijan and ethnic Armenians over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Zelenskyy said: "We support Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty just as Azerbaijan always supports our territorial integrity and sovereignty." In February 2022, he applied for Ukraine to join the European Union. Zelenskyy has tried to position Ukraine as a neutral party in the political and trade tensions between the United States and China. In January 2021, Zelenskyy said in an interview with Axios that he does not perceive China as a geopolitical threat and that he does not agree with the United States assertions that it represents one. Zelenskyy supported the late 2013 and early 2014 Euromaidan movement. During the war in Donbas, he actively supported the Ukrainian army. Zelenskyy helped fund a volunteer battalion fighting on Donbas. In a 2014 interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine, Zelenskyy said that he would have liked to pay a visit to Crimea, but would avoid it because "armed people are there". In August 2014, Zelenskyy performed for Ukrainian troops in Mariupol and later his studio donated ₴1 million to the Ukrainian army. Regarding the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea, Zelenskyy said that, speaking realistically, it would be possible to return Crimea to Ukrainian control only after a regime change in Russia. In an interview in December 2018, Zelenskyy stated that as president he would try to end the ongoing war in Donbas by negotiating with Russia. As he considered the leaders of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic (DPR and LPR) to be Russia's "puppets", it would "make no sense to speak with them". He did not rule out holding a referendum on the issue. In an interview published three days before the 2019 presidential election (on 21 April), Zelenskyy stated that he was against granting the Donbas region "special status". In the interview he also said that if he were elected president he would not sign a law on amnesty for the militants of the DPR and LPR. In response to suggestions to the contrary, he stated in April 2019 that he regarded Russian president Vladimir Putin "as an enemy". On 2 May 2019, Zelenskyy wrote on Facebook that "the border is the only thing Russia and Ukraine have in common". Zelenskyy opposes the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline between Russia and Germany, calling it "a dangerous weapon, not only for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe." On 25 May 2022, Zelenskyy said that "Ukraine will fight until it regains all its territories." Ukrainska Pravda 23Medvedev says war in Ukraine will last for decades and threatens nuclear strike againIryna Balachuk — Friday, 26 May 2023, 11:58 5-26/ Dmitry Medvedev is the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia since 2020. Medvedev also served as the president of Russia between 2008 and 2012 and as the prime minister of Russia between 2012 and 2020Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, has stated that the "military conflict" in Ukraine will last "for a very long time" and once again threatened a "preemptive nuclear strike" – now apparently because of the supply of nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
Source: Russian propaganda publications TASS and RIA Novosti, citing remarks made by Medvedev during his visit to Vietnam
Quote from Medvedev: "This conflict will last a very long time. Decades, for sure. This is a new reality, a new environment. As long as there is such a government, there will be, say, three years of a truce, two years of conflict, and it will all happen again. The very nature of the Nazi power in Kyiv has to be destroyed."
Details: Medvedev also added that if Ukraine receives nuclear weapons from its Western allies, Russia will apparently have to launch a pre-emptive strike.
Quote from Medvedev: "Then that will mean that a missile with a nuclear charge will strike them. There are irreversible laws of war. If it comes to nuclear weapons, it will be necessary to launch a preventive strike."
Details: The Russian official did not specify whom exactly this strike would target.
He also stated that the occupiers have enough shells, and the Russian defence industry has supposedly adapted and increased the production of weapons.
In addition, Medvedev claimed that Russian defence enterprises have started to introduce "trophy technologies" that were captured during the war.
Medvedev once again repeated the typical narrative that it was not Russia that attacked a sovereign country, but Europe, "constantly heating up the situation in the conflict zone in Ukraine by its decisions", and the US, who he says wants to "destroy [its] centuries-old enemy", that is, Russia.
He also said negotiations with Ukraine are impossible while Zelenskyy is in power, but at the same time added that "all proposed plans for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict must be examined."
Medvedev also urged Russians not to leave the country in "difficult times", saying that "a decent person should live in his own country and abide by the conditions in which he lives."[/b][/font] Source: www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/05/26/7403980/Wikipedian om Medvev's stamce towards the WarSince the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Medvedev has "reinvented himself as an arch-hawk", making a series of "shocking and provocative statements" and "thinly veiled threats" of war against Western countries. International analysts have described this turn as an attempt by the "once mild-mannered Medvedev" to "cover his back and shore up his political future" during the turmoil brought on by the war and Russia's increasingly nationalistic and hawkish political climate.Domestic policyIn February 2022, after Russia was suspended from the Council of Europe due to its invasion of Ukraine, and subsequently announced its intention to withdraw from the organization, Medvedev stated that while the decision to suspend Russia was "unfair", it was also a "good opportunity" to reinstate the death penalty in Russia.
In November 2022, Medvedev called the Russians who fled Russia after the invasion "cowardly traitors" and said that Russia was "stronger and cleaner" without them. On 28 December 2022, he further said that the emigrants who were opposed to the war should be labeled "enemies of society" and barred from returning to Russia. Medvedev called for the use of death squads against politically active Russian exiles.
On 23 March 2023 Medvedev turned his attention inwards, to domestic defence firms. He said to top factory managers: "If you breach your duty before the Motherland, I will destroy you as criminals who forget their honor and interests of the Motherland. I want you to hear me and remember the Generalissimo [Stalin]’s words. As you understand, the results were quite impressive, and if there were none you understand what happened."Foreign policyIn February 2022, after sanctions had been imposed on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, Medvedev stated that Russia did not need diplomatic relations with the West and that the sanctions imposed on the country gave it good reason to pull out of dialogue on nuclear stability and potentially New START.
In April 2022, he addressed the global food crisis, caused in part by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, saying that Russia would supply food and agriculture products only to "friendly" countries. He said that Russia has many friends and they are not in Europe and North America.
On 6 July 2022, Medvedev wrote on Telegram that it would be "crazy to create tribunals or courts for the so-called investigation of Russia's actions", claiming the idea of "punishing a country that has one of the largest nuclear potentials" may potentially pose "a threat to the existence of humanity". Medvedev accused the United States of creating "chaos and devastation around the world under the guise of 'true democracy'", concluding his message by saying "the US and its useless stooges should remember the words of the Bible: 'Judge not, lest you be judged; so that one day the great day of His wrath will not come to their house, and who can stand?'"
On 27 July 2022, Medvedev shared a map on Telegram, described as predictions of "Western analysts", showing Ukraine, including its occupied territories, mostly absorbed by Russia, as well as Poland, Romania and Hungary.Kyiv after Russian shelling on 14 March 2022. Medvedev expressed support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In September 2022 Medvedev said that any weapons in Russia's arsenal, including strategic nuclear weapons, could be used to protect territories annexed to Russia from Ukraine. He also said that referendums organized by Russia-installed and separatist authorities would take place in large swathes of Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory, and that there was "no turning back". Later that month he said that Russia had the right to defend itself with nuclear weapons and that this was "certainly not a bluff". Reuters interpreted this as a threat to carry out a nuclear strike against Ukraine.
On 4 November 2022 on the occasion of Russia's Day of National Unity state holiday, Medvedev thought that Russia "was fighting a sacred battle against Satan" who uses "intricate lies. And our weapon is the truth. That is why our cause is right. That is why victory will be ours!". The Ukrainians were "crazy Nazi drug addicts" backed by Westerners who he said had "saliva running down their chins from degeneracy".
In November 2022 Medvedev was quoted as saying on his Telegram app channel that the Ukrainian desire to recapture the territory it had lost to Russia in the annexations "is a threat to the existence of our state and of a dismemberment of today’s Russia", and "direct reason" to use Russia’s nuclear weapons; something the reporter termed "worrying language".[172] In the same month another journalist quoted him as saying "Russia, for obvious reasons, has not yet used its entire arsenal of possible weapons, equipment and munitions. And did not attack all possible enemy targets located in populated areas. And not only from our inherent human kindness. Everything has its time."Medvedev repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons. On 21 December 2022, Medvedev visited Beijing and met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. They discussed strengthening the "strategic partnership" between Russia and China and the war in Ukraine.
On 14 January 2023, in response to Japanese PM Fumio Kishida making a joint statement with US President Joe Biden condemning a hypothetical Russian use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, Medvedev accused Kishida of "shameful subservience" to the United States and suggested Kishida should ritually disembowel himself by seppuku to atone.
On 4 February 2023, he warned that "all of Ukraine that remains under Kyiv's rule will burn" after the United States promised to send longer-range rockets that would double Ukraine's strike range.
On 24 February 2023 Medvedev was thinking of unilaterally changing the borders of Poland. On 14 April 2023 Medvedev threatened Poland with dissolution: "I do not know who will win or lose this war, but, considering Poland’s role as a NATO outpost in Europe, the country will most likely cease to exist, together with its stupid Prime Minister."
On 20 March 2023, in response to the ICC issuing a warrant for Putin, Medvedev posted on Telegram saying that "It is quite possible to imagine a hypersonic missile being fired from the North Sea from a Russian ship at The Hague courthouse".
On 8 April 2023, Medvedev said that Ukraine will "disappear" as "no one needs it". He claimed that neither Europe nor the United States, Africa, Latin America or Asia need Ukraine and called the current Ukrainian state "a misunderstanding generated by the collapse of the USSR." He said the Kremlin does not need "parts of Russia named as Ukraine in 1991," it instead needs "Big Great Russia."
On 19 April 2023 Medvedev promised South Korea that Russia would arm North Korea with its weapons if South Korea armed Ukraine.
In April 2023, Medvedev said in connection with the imposition of sanctions by Britain on five Russian citizens related to the sentencing of Russian human rights activist Vladimir Kara-Murza: “To spit on their decisions. Britain was, is and will be our eternal enemy. In any case, until their impudent and disgustingly damp island goes into the abyss of the sea from the wave created by the latest Russian weapons system.“
On 21-23 May 2023, he visited Vietnam and met with Vietnam's Communist Party chief Nguyễn Phú Trọng. They discussed the strengthening of ties between Russia and Vietnam and the current international situation.
On 25 May, Dmitry Medvedev said, during his visit to Vietnam, that he believed that the war with Ukraine could last a “very long time, most likely decades”. He further said "As long as there is such a power in place (in Ukraine), there will be, say, three years of truce, two years of conflict, and everything will be repeated,"On 21 December 2022, Medvedev visited Beijing and met with Chinese President Xi Jinping
