Dear Jaga,
I have to say that we in the Netherlands often have a lack of historical knowledge about our own Monarchy and Monarchs. We have a Monarchy and take that for granted, but lack a great interest in it. Some like me due to Republican preferences (I like a chosen president and a Dutch Republic) and others due to their pragmatic focus on today. But of course this thread and your post is interesting as part of Dutch, German and Polish (Silesian) history.
Our knowledge often goes back a few generations of Monarchs, starting with Queen Emma. Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont (Adelheid Emma Wilhelmina Theresia; 2 August 1858 – 20 March 1934) was Queen of the Netherlands and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg as the wife of King-Grand Duke William III. An immensely popular member of the Dutch Royal Family, Queen Emma served as regent for her daughter, Queen Wilhelmina, during the latter's minority from 1890 until 1898.
The daughter of Queen Regent Emma was our Second World War Queen Wilhelmina (who had a strong role in London -also due to Radio Orange in the Occupied Netherlands -aired from London-), the daughter of Queen Wilhelmina was Queen Juliana (our post war Queen of the fifties, sixties and Seventies), and the daughter of Queen Juliana was Queen Beatrix, today Princess Beatrix’s (the name of the former Queen Beatrix today) son Alexander is King Alexander with his wife Queen Maxima.
Cheers, Pieter

Jaga
Very interesting presentation of Princess Marianne of the Nederlanden. The young lady was not only very handsome, but a very responsible landowner from her castle home. Presentations such as this is what makes this forum so international and being different from so many others that deal only with one subject state.
