John,
Football (Soccer) Hooliganism is a European problem with or without enough tickets being sold. This time Polish Hooligans of Legia Warszawa caused some problems, another time it could be Dutch, Belgian or German Hooligans that caused trouble. It is a phenomenon which exists around professional soccer matches, and European soccer countries have experience with dealing with large Soccer fan masses and the Hooligan elements amongst them.

The Craziest Atmosphere In Football | Wisla Krakow v Cracovia | The Holy WarThe Holy War (Polish: Święta Wojna, also Derby Krakowa) is a rivalry in Polish football between Wisła Kraków and KS Cracovia, the two biggest clubs in Kraków and reportedly the oldest in Poland, both founded in 1906. The term Holy War was coined by the defender from KS Cracovia, Ludwik Gintel. It is also the theme of a song devoted to their never-ending shenanigans, played by Andrusy.HighlightsThe earliest extant records of the Holy War originate from the newspaper published on 20 September 1908 informing that the match played at Błonia Park between the two teams resulted in a 1:1 draw. Earlier matches were also reported, but their results are missing from archives of the local media. The first competition in accordance with the 1904 official FIFA standards, took place on 8 May 1913 at the Cracovia stadium in Kraków, with the home team winning over Wisła 2:1.
The Holy War is considered the most intense rivalry in Poland and one of the most intense in all of Europe. Despite the fact that the two stadiums are less than a kilometer away, the fans are two bitter rivals against each other, often resulting in fights between them as well as the police.Jutrzenka KrakówJutrzenka Kraków was a Jewish minority Polish football club during the interwar period. The club existed until 1939. Fans and players of the club were generally associated with the Bund political party. The main rival of Jutrzenka was the club Makkabi Kraków, which was associated with the Zionist movement and political parties. The matches between the two teams were generally referred to as "Holy War" long before that became a common reference to matches between Cracovia and Wisła.
Józef Klotz played for Jutrzenka Kraków, which he joined as a youth team player and played for from 1912 to 1925. Jutrzenka played one season in I liga in 1927 when it took the last, fourteenth place. Another success of Jutrzenka was placing second in A-Class (the highest level for soccer in the Kraków region) in 1924, behind Wisła Kraków and just ahead of Cracovia.
Jutrzenka's stadium was located at the present site of the stadium of Wisła Kraków.
The animosity between Jutrzenka and Makkabi was sufficiently intense that in arguments within KOZPN (the organization of Kraków area soccer teams), the Zionist Makkabi often made tactical alliances with the somewhat antisemitic Wisła (Wisła's charter banned non-Catholic players from its ranks) against Jutrzenka and its more democratic ally Cracovia. In general, for political and social reasons, Jutrzenka was associated with Cracovia while Makkabi was associated with Wisła (the intense rivalry between Cracovia and Wisła persists to this day).
