Finland is considered the most happy country in the world for several years. I had some doubts about it. Here is the story about what happened yesterday: www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/04/02/finland-school-shooting/Finnish 12-year-old shoots classmate dead, wounds two others, say policeFinnish police detained a 12-year-old student Tuesday on suspicion of fatally shooting a classmate and severely wounding two others, all also 12 years old, at a school in Vantaa, northeast of the capital, Helsinki, police said at a news conference. Police were alerted to the incident shortly after 9 a.m. local time, and images from the scene showed a large police presence at the school, which has around 800 students and 90 employees and is attended by children ages 7 to 15. According to police, the suspect was in custody by 10 a.m. and had a handgun in his possession. The weapon is licensed and belongs to a close relative, police said. Authorities said the crimes are murder and attempted murder “due to some degree of planning,” but because the suspect is 12 years old, he is not criminally responsible. Investigation director Marko Särkkä said police will interview the 12-year-old suspect Tuesday before he is handed over to social services.

Of this as a somewhat surprise but should not be, for Finland is not a wonderland in as far as such stories as being the most happy of nations. Finland is a land of people and within most population there is the number of fools and idiots as witnessed by this news. But then with the short summers and long winters, it is a wonder that depression is not rampart.
