[glow=red,2,300]I will toot my own trumpet and beat my own drum here... Next Sunday, the 17th, husband and I will celebrate 40 years of marriage [/glow] My gift to him will be late...a DVD made from old 8mm movie film of our wedding and the two of us dancing the polka together for the only time in our married lives. I am hoping a friend will be able to do the transfer for me...he does this sort of thing for a living. Gardenmoma

Next Sunday, the 17th, husband and I will celebrate 40 years of marriage [/glow] Now that is something that should be shared and not hidden, so thanks for bringing it up and Congratulations! It takes a bit fo work to get there, eh, but it is worth it. I don't have any flowers I can send except electronically, and I swiped these - if stolen food tastes better, then 'borrowed' flowers must be more beautiful...

Thank you all for the wonderful flowers and your warm wishes. I bought a small box of super gourmet cocolates for husband today to go with the silly card. The kids are getting us an ice-cream to celebrate (I know because they asked us what kind we wanted. ) The grandchildren will love the cake as well The "men" are grilling pork chops "brined in beer" for the meat eaters, and lots of veggies! I guess I am getting a little excited! GM

Congratulations GM, my parents will celebrate their 40 years of marriage in the beginning of july in a Golden Tulip hotel near Arnhem, with my South-African family of my sister (+ husbant and her two kids), and Dutch aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces!
I hope that you will have a wonderful celebration tomorrow!
Pieter

Her a nice poem from Poems.me.UK
40 Years ago Today Its’ my turn to make the speech today So I thought I’d compete with my dad I’ll tell you about the last 40 years That have been more happy than sad To start this rhyme I thought I'd say Something about that happy day But I'm finding it hard, to be quite fair And it's simply because I wasn’t there I bet dad looked marvelous I bet mum looked great I bet dad was nervous And I bet mum was late One year later and not too soon Mum was adding to the baby boom Along came Philip to cuddle and hold But soon the little gentleman, or so I am told Seven years later to spoil the quiet Here comes Gaynor to cause a riot I didn’t stop yelling or so it was said From the time I was born ‘till the time I was wed A lot has happened over the years Plenty of laughter and your fair share of tears The love that has kept you both together I know will go on for ever and ever Although money was sometimes tight And as children we never understood your plight Philip and I never went without a thing And you’ve eventually got that Ruby ring But the grandchildren wanted to be included too In making this day special for you Although Owain and Rhyddian are here with me We must no forget the other three It's no good thinking that in a while They’ll come through that door, that lot from Carlisle They just couldn’t make it was too much of a rush So here are the flowers from all of us By Gaynor Llewellyn (October 1991)
