since the compromise was reached. Poland and other EE countries would receive less than first promised but more than it was feared: Poland is to receive over 91 billion euros (109.2 billion US dollars) from EU budget from the year 2007 to 2013 , said Polish Minister for European affairs Jaroslaw Pietras at a new conference on Monday The money includes 60 billion euros (72 billion dollars) of EU structural and cohesion funds and nearly 27 billion euros (32.4 billion dollars) destined for Polish agricultural sector, according to Pietras. The rest of money is for scientific research, border protection, and fighting terrorism, etc, he added. Pietras said Poland worked hard in the budget negotiation to get better results for Poland and these are badly needed money for Poland. english.people.com.cn/200512/20/eng20051220_229323.html

It is our late Marshal plan Jaga. Money that goes for cohesion and structural projects requires our own financial participation ranging from 40% to 15% which means in the next 10 years we would invest about 90 USD billion!!! plus subsidies to farmers and other programs!! ... Well, nobody yet has used all the funds available in ...short history of EU but we have a chance to be as good as the Irish.

Poland deserves it. They were left out of the Marshall plan. This gives them a chance to catch up.

George The Marshal plan was the life blood of rebuilding of war torn Germany, into a viable nationality of human beings. It was not a word of scorn! But, a human arm of help sponsored by and demanded by the American Government.
In response, Germans today, still after so many generations, remember this!
If the French had, had their way in demands, most German people would have of today, have harboured an extreme resentment to the allied nations that destroyed the German nation, including my self.
But, today, thanks to the American goverment, the nation of Germany has been allowed to live and prosper into this new millium of our new century.
This was only possible under the Marshall plan.

IF it wasn't for Blair this EU budget deal would not happened. I was surprised UK went for EU this time. I thought their intention was to kill the budget and force EU to run on year to year budget basis; which would doom any planning for new members. Blair was great and along with Merkel and Chirac and Marcinkiewicz are to be thanked for the budget deal. EU family together again. Now Austrian presidency will get beck to the constitution project. It bothers me that elected to EU institutions representatives tend to be loyal not to the people (who elected them) but rather to the governments.

The British sometimes have a peculiar kind of humour called "the English humour," what Poles, humorous guys themselves, can easily forgive.
