Army on alert as broken US spy satellite falls into Poland
The news of the broken US spy satellite, which might crash into Poland in the beginning of March elasticized the media and politicians over the weekend. On Friday evening Defense Minister Bogdan Klich received information from American authorities that they plan to shoot down the two and a half tonne malfunctioning satellite before it actually hits earth.
The risk that the remainder of the satellite will hit Poland is minimal but the Defense Ministry has introduced a state of increased readiness in the army. Representatives of the Pentagon have ensured that Poland is not in the range of threat. The Americans lost control over the satellite as the control computer stopped functioning.

U.S. government said today that 193 will be shot down in a position where it will land in the Pacific Ocean some miles from Hawaii. Let's hope they're on target. LOL

I understand they wish to blow it up and will try to do so somewhere over the Pacific. If they miss I think they have only one more window of opportunity. (I sure hope they get there target) This morning or evening (it was late) ;D I was listening to my talk show on the radio and they had on a guy from NASA. Someone called in and brought up an excellent point. What if this is a duck and they are just letting others know what we can do...like China. Does the government ever really tell us the truth?

Interesting development of computer glitch occurring on a sensitive satellite. By virtue of the design and purpose of a spy satellite, the owners would wish not for some of those secrets to be known if portions were to survive the impact, or for that matter the gathered information gathered.
Makes good sense to blow it up whilst it is in good targeting position.
Opportunity is beckoning: Imagine the enormous value upon the open market of sale of individual satellite remains?
{Would the highest bidder please stand up?}
