Hi All,
I'm going to be in Poland next month and would like to rent a car in Warsaw. Some questions . . .
1. Any recommendations for a cheap, reliable car renting company . . . 2. Besides a US drivers license, a US passport, an International Driver's Permit, and a major credit card is there anything else I need to rent a car in Poland . . .
We are planning on driving from Warsaw to Czestochowa to Krakow and back to Warsaw.
Thanks for any suggestions and help.
Bob

Bob, I used LRC (Local Rent a Car) in Warszawa and they are reliable. Cost was not that bad. No rent a wreck there yet. You have all you need to rent the car. If you pay cash there is a discount. Here is there web site. www.lrc.com.pl/index.phpJim

Thanks alot Jim. Checked out their website and I'll probably rent the car from them.
One other question - all (or at least most) of the websites I have seen concerning renting a car in Poland talk about an "International Drivers License". I have from AAA an "International Drivers Permit". I am assuming that they are the same. Are they??
Thanks again,
Bob

I believe that is all that is required. That is what I was told to bring traveling to Germany but tdid not plan on driving in Poland so only brought my passport. Here is a website that might be helpful if you haven't come across it yet. www.warsaw-life.com/ Another is "Ask our man in Warsaw" (just do a Google for the url) but then I'm not sure how fast the reponses maybe but you may gather some helpful hints reading through it.

I use Local Rent a Car when I go to Poland and get the permit from AAA.

Bob,
The AAA driving permit is the international drivers license. I think you are good to go. Every time I got stopped by the Police in Poland I just showed my California drivers license. Never had to show the AAA permit.

Bob,
Ask the car rental guys which map to buy to get you around on your trip. Between cities you won't have a problem. It is in the city where you need a plan of the city. It is a map with all the streets for a particular city. You will probably need one for Krakow and for sure Warszawa.
