Holly,
That doesn't look like Vilnius (Wilna to Poles). Besides, the geographic center is 25 km north of Vilnius.
Kai PS Which geographer do you follow??? That claim is even more disputable than the geographic center of the US. Evidently it is some Scandanavians who placed the Center by Vilnius.

Aha! Thanks Holly. I am glad to see they discuss the various measurements and claims. It is Bernotai, or Purnuškės near Vilnius in Lithuania that I was thinking of. Looking at the photo of the current monument there might mislead you when I claim to have stood on top of the monument and balanced on one foot for a photo ... The old monument was only half a meter high and you had to stop on a narrow two lane asphalt road with no shoulders in order to walk across the farmer's field to get to the monument! That was in 1993.
Now if I were a nationalistic Slovak I would have to defend the Slovak claim to possessing the center of Europe. I suppose I should read their claim as well... ah, no wonder I have no political party, I am not willing to argue "we" (of any stripe) are always correct!
