Hi, everyone!
I just wanted to apologize for not posting in so long. The summer is long over already, and that means that I've been working like a robot. Not only am I studying for my last year before getting my graduate degree, I'm also teaching English, translating, and I was just made the group director for groups of foreign students coming to Petersburg. Unfortunately, I barely have enough time to sleep.
So, I didn't want you to think that I had completely abandoned you. Especially thanks to Jaga for prodding me to come back to the forum to say "hi" to everyone!

Welcome back Eric, it's good that you are teaching English and translating! I hope that you translate great peaces of Russian Modern literature and poetry into English or great English language writers of European writers into Russian. One of the greatest Modern Russian poets Joseph Brodski mentioned the importance of learning every new generation of new students or poetry lovers of many poems. He called his own greatest achievement not his poetry, but learning his students hundreds or thousands (I don't remember exactly) poems by heart. You are part of that exchange of information.
Human capital is the most important issue of our time, and a large part of the world knowledge (science, philosophy and culture) is written in Russian.
Today Russian is widely used outside Russia. Over a quarter of the world's scientific literature is published in Russian. It is also applied as a means of coding and storage of universal knowledge — 60–70% of all world information is published in English and Russian languages. Russian also is a necessary accessory of world communications systems (broadcasts, air- and space communication, etc).

If (and that's a VERY big "if") I go for my doctorate, I can promise it won't be for quite some time.

Good you didn`t leave us for good! What about Lena? Any news from her? She's still on the Russian forum on Delphi. But, honestly, I don't visit there any more than I do here.

Unfortunately, the word "relax" isn't at all in my vocabulary these days. At least I can say that my stress level is rather low - that's always a good sign.

I hate to disappoint you, but usually I translate documents, instructional materials, etc. Literature and poetry is very rare on my list of things to translate.
