Ahh, Franek,
It seems we have sold out our politicians to Big Business, politicians of both parties. So much for lifetime professional politicians we developed over the last 40 years or so, where 90% of them are reelected !
The Republicans are happy to call back to 'Reagan conservatism", which to me is a sell-out. I want to go back to Goldwater conservatism when we believed in balancing the budget and carrying a minimum of national debt! I don't like th liberal economics of the Bush borrow-and-spend politics. I am afraid we have pawned our future to foreign businesses and governments, and a recession could be the least of our problems.
Poor Goldwater must be spinning in his grave!

Hello Tim, welcome in our forum! I think that Ron Paul is very refreshing voice in his party and I love his supporters! As a matter of truth, John, my husband, showed me Ron Paul a couple of years ago in C-Span. Before I did not even know that he existed. Since the very beginning he impressed me with his courage and knowledge of economy.

Tim
May also I offer to you a very warm and hearty welcome aboard! I see you are in short time comfortable and have many friends.
In passing: I see you are of an old established family, it will be of great interest as time evolves, to hear your analysis of the politics of the country, but also of the society.
But, here I am running in-front of the horse, all in good time.
Again, welcome aboard
Charles

Over the years, listening to the media speak of "recession" and how the nation is suffering, in my humble opinion, it depends what income class/bracket you are in & whether you are affected.
If you are living beyond your means(keeping up with the Jone's next door who has all the finest clothes, cars, etc.) and cannot make the mortgage payment on your home, then I can see where a recession may affect you.
If one is conservative & frugal and cuts back on their luxuries, the "recession" is just another word to scare the American public and to cause the stock market to rise and fall.
The cost of living goes up each year and most people get some kind of pay raise, to make up for the increased living expenses. We are breaking even in a sense.
If there is hardship-to where one has lost their job due to company down sizing, be in a financial struggle with your creditors, foreclosure process on your home then you can say "recession."
I think most Americans today, fall somewhere in between where they are having struggles to pay their bills, but yet still enjoy many luxuries.
