I told this story in here a couple of years ago. Since then there are new faces in here. I think that it is worth telling again. When I got out of the Army. I took my girlfriend in to meet my folks..But first I had to assure them that she was Polish. Every weekend we would go to a Polka dance. In my church they took any excuse to party.Crab Feasts, bull Roasts,Oyster roasts and a Snowball dance..On this day it was a Pacz and coffeeki dance. The women of the church baked paczki and coffee. After we ate and cleaned up.There suddenly appeared VODKA and WHISKY Bottles on the table...The beer bar was already set up. The priest got up on the stage and said a prayer.. Then on top f his voice he yelled. A teraz do zabawy. (Now lets have some fun) Then the band started playing polkas. We all drank and danced. It was then noticed that the priest danced with any woman with big boobs. The bum drank like a fish. After a couple of hours,he was bombed. He fell down and upchucked. A couple of guys picked him up and took him to the rectory..He blamed it on somethimg that he ate.Yeah Sure!. He was soon tranfered out of the parish. Franek

franek80,
Not all the priest were like this. We had two great guys, who have long passed away. They were like a second father, or a good uncle. Someone you could talk with, on anything. They would play ball with us, when we were young, and they would come to our homes for meals, and all that type of stuff. These two, and some others, along the way, were special people, sone of God's workers. I am sorry you have a bad one, and I hope he did not ruin it for you, with others.
Michael Dabrowski P.S. I am not a priest, but I like women with big boobs also, but don't drink.

Franek, that was a great story!
It reminds me of many weddings I attended on dad's side of the family. I loved to watch the people dancing to the polka. One aunt and uncle were particularly good, so all eyes were on them.
I had some young cousins (boys) that played accordion's, and they were GOOD! Played at all the weddings.
Unfortunately in my family it wasn't the priest, but 2 uncles who always had just a bit "too much fun!"

LOL Mary; Your story about your uncles reminds me of one of my uncles. He was the family drunk. One trime many years ago,we celebrated Wiglia (Christmas Eve) very early in the evening.. We ate drank and sang Koledy( PolishChristmas Carols) By time it came to go to midnight mass, were really smashed. When the choir started singing Koledy,my drunk uncle ssng along too. So loud that he drowned out the choir. The Priest called us a bunch of drunks ..We were then escorted out of church. HAH! We did not care. Since it was now after midnight, the ham and kielbasa were ready. We ate ,drank and sang until the early morning hours..So who needed the Church? We KRAWCZYK'S knew how to have a good time.

Mike! I lost faith in the Catholic Church a long time ago.. Here is an article that confirms my desicion.
Rome on $12,000 a Month The Return of Cardinal Bernard Law By CHRISTOPHER BRAUCHLI
What does the Lord require of thee but . . . to walk humbly with thy God.
The Holy Bible, Micah
In an era where tolerance of sexual assaults by those whom one supervises is the norm rather than the exception, it is still possible to entertain surprise. And the biggest surprise of all came on May 27, 2004. On that date it was announced that one supervisor was being richly rewarded notwithstanding outrageous tolerance of sexual transgression by subordinates. On May 27 it was announced that Cardinal Bernard F. Law, formerly of Boston, had been given a wonderful new job by none other than the Lord's representative on earth, Pope John Paul II.
During Cardinal Law's tenure, lots of priests under his supervision engaged in inappropriate conduct with young children. Cardinal Law was not present when the offenses took place and the Lord did not see fit to let him know what was going on. Other people did but he didn't take them seriously. By 2002, things had gotten fairly unpleasant for him in Boston and in December of that year he tendered his resignation as Cardinal and moved out of the $20 million three story church-owned house built in the 1920s in which he'd been living humbly as befits a man of the cloth.
Following his resignation he went on a retreat from which he could contemplate the injustice of being blamed for others' sexual misconduct. He had plenty to contemplate having been named in more than 500 lawsuits filed by people claiming they were abuse victims of priestly abuse. He contemplated on a full stomach since, according to Rev. Christopher J. Coyne, a spokesman for the Boston archdiocese: "He receives the same salary and benefits from the archdiocese as every other priest and bishop."
At the conclusion of the retreat Cardinal Law went to serve as chaplain to the Sisters of Mercy of Alma in Clinton, Md. That chaplaincy is coming to an end. The Pope has now decided to reward him for his faithful service by elevating him once again.
On May 27 it was announced that Cardinal Law was being given the post of archpriest of St. Mary Major Basilica. The basilica is one of the four most important basilicas in Rome. According to a Vatican spokesman Cardinal Law "will be in charge of the administration of the priests and anything related to the basilica." The official went on to explain, enigmatically, that the post "is not a position of power." That may be meant to insulate the Cardinal from any future lawsuits if it turns out that the priests he administers engage in the kind of conduct he failed to notice that got him in so much trouble in Boston.
Cardinal Law succeeds Cardinal Carlo Furno, a cleric with extravagant tastes. The apartment occupied by Cardinal Furno and soon to be occupied by Cardinal Law is described as palatial. A former Vatican official said: "It's the classical Roman apartment with frescoes on the wall." He said that Cardinal Furno had paid for costly renovations which presumably remain with the new resident. Cardinal Law's old home in Boston is being sold by the church in order to help pay the victims of Cardinal Law's inadequate supervision. Cardinal Law will live in opulent surroundings in Rome far from unpleasant reminders of his past transgressions. His successor in Boston will live in more modest quarters.
Cardinal Furno had a monthly stipend of $12,000 a month. Cardinal Law will probably get a similar amount thus enabling him to live humbly yet well. While serving as the Sisters' chaplain he reported to the local bishop. In his new position his only supervisor, other than the Lord, (who has not done a particularly good job up to now) will be the Pope (who has not done a much better job).
Those representing the victims of the abuse tolerated by the Cardinal are not enthusiastic about his new appointment. Amitchell Garabedian represents more than 130 victims of sexual abuse by priests. Commenting on the Cardinal's new job and home he said: "He apparently is being transferred to a position that is comfortable and appears to be some sort of reward. The Vatican either doesn't understand the problem of clergy sex abuse, or it doesn't care." David Gibson, author of "The coming Catholic Church" said: "They're just cleaning up the mess in Boston and closing parishes, and he's getting the ultimate golden parachute. He's getting a beautiful apartment in Rome in one of the four major basilicas in Christendom." Messrs. Garabedian and Gibson don't understand that in this society that's how we deal with folks who can't supervise the improper sexual conduct of those beneath them. They're not alone.

Franek, I wish I'd have seen that! Are you sure we're not related? Sounds so much like my family. My 2 most "colorful" uncles were the life of all the wedding receptions. My poor dad who was always very proper and gentlemanly, as well as another brother, were always totally embarrassed at these other two. At my oldest brother's reception the one got so plastered he went in the bathroom to throw up, and lost his teeth in the toilet. I guess he just picked them out , rinsed them off, and went back for another beer. Then at my youngest brother's wedding the other uncle refused to leave and go home with his son and family. He wanted another drink and wanted to dance some more... but he could hardly stand up! He raised such a ruckus at the car that someone in a nearby house called the town police. My cousin didn't argue with the police a bit when they suggested taking him to jail for the night. They just stayed at a hotel and picked up a more sober, docile man in the morning...then headed for Ohio. Ahhh....I guess some of us are just natural born "Party Animals" Mary

MARY! I almost wet my drawers laughing at your uncle and his false teeth. No we are probably not related, but we have real Polish stock in us.. So what is wrong with letting it all hang out when we party.. It's memories like this that we can always recall. I just wish that you could speak Polish.. I would teach you some Polish fun songs. Can you do the Polka Hop. It is regular polka steps with a hop added.. It is beautiful to watch when a good Polka pair do it. Is your Dad still alive? If so,ask him if he ever heard the TATUS waltz. NA PONIEDZIALEK RANO OH OH I am getting carried away.. Do Drugego czasu kiedy my znowu bedziemy mowic (Till the next time that we meet to talk again) FRANEK

Franek,
Unfortunatly I can't speak Polish. My Dad passed away in 2002.
Watching my Aunt Vickie and Uncle Louie polka was pure beauty!
They are both still living, but Vickie is not doing well at all.
Yes...we need to hang on to those memories!
