 This was taken in a salt mine in south west Poland

 And a long ways down to view them   (and unfortunately these were before digital where mostly looks here unlit) All the statues and the chandeliers are carved from salt. |

In Wieliczka salt mine there are also several scupltures made of wood, since salt preserves wood very well!
