From the film’s website: “Food Fight is an abridged history of war, from World War II to present day, told through the foods of the countries in conflict. Watch as traditional comestibles slug it out for world domination in this chronologically re-enacted smorgasbord of aggression.” justjared.buzznet.com/2008/02/29/food-fight-war/

Food can be artistically done so it is pleasing...sorta like these photos. not to mention beautiful radish roses....

Speaking of food...what is on your Easter menu this year? Anything special? I'll be making spiral sliced ham, green beans, yams(real ones) and Polish sauerkraut...and of course colored eggs.

Joyce, I loved the pictures of the vegetables. we will be eating horseradish soup as usually during Easter. Of course we will also have ham and eggs and vetebale salad etc. here is the recipe: Horseradish Soup - Polish Easter Food culture.polishsite.us/articles/art83.html

then there is or if you want a look at the challenges my mother faced: I was skiing down a hill today and had to fall to stop myself quickly - and avoid a moose standing at the bottom of the hill. Happily she decided to head off away from me...

Hi All,
On Easter Sunday morning I will be with Ciotka and Wuj as I have been now for past10 years. They are not my biological aunt/uncle but it is fun to refer to them as such with the grandchildren and others who were close to my family. Ciotka will take the eggs, butter, bread, horseradish etc. for blessing on Easter Saturday. Aunt was distressed that she could not find horseradish root to prepare same for the Easter blessing and was so relieved when I told her I had made fresh horseradish and would bring it to her in time for the blessing. Whew, grating that stuff up is enough to send you to a hospital. My Mom always did it outside and by hand no less. I'm using a blender with window fans blowing out and back door wide open and I'm still a basket case when I'm finished. Those native polish women were some tough cookies. Easter breakfast is usually a sampling of the blessed food, followed by kielbasa, eggs, ham, home fried Long Island potatoes, home made Easter bread, kruschiki, fresh fruit salad. After we recover from that food shock, what follows is ice cream cake, cheescake, homemade cookies, coffee and blackberry schnapps. It takes two days to recover from this feast.
