PAYING TAXES is, for most people, both unavoidable and irksome. But how much hard-earned pay is taken by governments varies considerably across the world. Among the rich countries of the OECD, Germans shell out the most, with a worker earning an average income giving 43% of their gross pay to the state, with nearly half of that going towards social security. Workers in Poland hand over nearly 25% of their wages to social security; whereas Australians pay nothing at all directly. Mexicans and South Koreans enjoy the lightest taxation by some way.

What a dynamite subject, taxes! The lurking of the tax vulture roosting above our heads whilst we pick up our pay for our work.
Perhaps I am wrong, but it appears the tax method of collection is very similar in America and Canada as in Germany. With some exceptions.
For one, you do not have the Church tax-the other, you do have the darn 5.5% solidarity tax for integrating East Germany! {This is a stye in the eye for sure!}. And then though, the good tax of 12% for universal Health Care, every person in Germany has health care.
In as much to explanation of the income tax {Lohnsteuer-wage tax} it is so darn complicated to be just best left to a tax preparer and what ever it is, just pay the person, for they are worth it..
At the moment, I think there is close up to 30 different taxes included in the VAT tax {value added Tax}.
The primary situation, is first the gross wage earning, then tax taken out in the course of the year, then to recoup what you have at disposal for deductions to regain what was originally taken out of your pocket.
The tax vulture is vicious, and hangs over the shoulder for a big bite out of our life's work.
I do not mind the church tax. For this is collected by the government as a service for the church. The church has many many programmes for the poor/home less/abused families for also of so many programmes for the people. It takes a great load off the social welfare programmes and better administers to those in need.
As my wage is paid for intellectual work enjoyed out of country and compensated out of country, I pay no wage tax in the USA, but what I am not compensated for, is the VAT on purchases local. I do not find this objectionable, for this more or less is commensurate with usage of services as enjoyed by my self.
For as VAT is not collected for food or medical services is equatable in that foreign monetary recompense is forwarded for medical serviced rendered on a need as needed basis. I have a foreign health care card that is not recognized. So in response, I pay cash and am reimbursed for my cost with turn in of receipts to personnel in Bonn. Reimbursements is then electronically forwarded to the local bank of record. {complicated, but works}.
{Life is not of what we wish for, it is layed out before us, we then take our chances and make the best of what we have.}
