Polish driver - Kubica, won a second place in famous Monaco ride. The weather was terrible, strong rain, there were many crashes, so the Pole was also a bit lucky.
here is more: Poland’s first ever GP driver, BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica, finished second in this Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Much of the race took part in rain showers, which made picking the right tyres difficult. Kubica, who had started back in fifth on the grid and had elected to stay on wets for much of the race, decided to come in and change to dry tyres on lap 52.
The risky move, with rain clouds hovering above, paid off, especially as a crash to William’s Nico Rosenberg reduced the lead the eventual winner, UK’s Lewis Hamilton, had built up over Kubica - around half a minute - to just three seconds.
Because of numerous stops from crashes around the tight Monaco road circuit, the race failed to reach its ultimate length of 78 laps and finished on the two hour time limit.
The Monaco result equals Kubica’s previous best placed finish after coming second in the Malaysian GP in March.
Kubica remains in fourth place in the overall drivers championship on 32 points.
