Guys,
you can help probably more than me. Somebody asked me for moderately priced rooms in Krakow. I know there are many private rooms available in Zakopane area, but I am not sure about Krakow.
I remember that the students dorms were transformed into hotels during the summer.
Where any of you were spending night in Krakow and how expensive was it?
++++ if you know of an agency or individuals in Krakow which specialize in renting rooms in pensions which are moderately priced. I will be there about July 26-28 which I realize is the "high" season. I certainly would appreciate any suggestions you might be able to make.

We have stayed at the Royal Hotel a few times. www.cracow-life.com/sleep/hotels_details/245-Hotel_RoyalIt is the old Austrian Officer's hotel so it has an old world "charm" and is (at least as of our last stay) the military hotel in Krakow. The location is ideal - right at the foot of Wawel and it is on the planty for those early/evening strolls. It also offers an easy walk to Old Town or the Kasmierez - plenty of great restaurants as well (Pod Baram right across the street). The staff are easy to work with and know the best guides/tours (tour buses stop right outside the door). One thing to keep in mind is that there are two separate sides to the hotel - one side caters to the military and the other more main stream tourists. We have stayed in both and been happy with both! Breakfast is included. The accommodations are pretty basic - but sparkling clean - but who spends most of their time in Krakow in the hotel? It is possible to walk to the Royal from the train station - but taxis know the hotel and it is an inexpensive ride if you have luggage. The dining room is now a restaurant/bar called Pod Wawel (if memory serves me right) which is a branch of the Kompanie Piwna Pod Wale in Warsaw (right out side the Barbican in Warsaw).

Ladies,
thank you very much for the tips! I will forward it to the person who asked me. It is very helpful.
Holly, good point. I also remember that the old hotels in downtowns offered good prices.
