I woke this morning to the radio and a news report of this. Uncle who flew the flag in memory of his nephews death in Iraq was stolen and later to be found in the gutter nearby all dirty and wet. I think who ever had the disrespect to do such a thing should be hung by his fingernails. These were friends of mine who suffered a terrible lose don't need something like this to add to the painful experience. The nephew was only 23 when he died for his country thanks to Bush.

We remember with gratitude.
In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

A veteran - whether active duty, reserve, national guard or retired - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." - That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

For those of you that might question the angle iron in a verticle position mounted on front of the jeep. The Germans would string wire across the road at head level. It would decapitate a GI.

Kameraden”
“Once I Had A Comrade”
Once I had a comrade, a better one you could not find. The drum beat for this fighter, who e’er walked with me side by side, who e’er walked with me side by side. A bullet came, a bullet flew;aimed at me or aimed at you? It him who lays at my feet, as if a very piece of me, as if a very piece of me.
Your hand still wants to reach me, while I just had to carry on:
I can not give my hand to you.
Rest e’er in peace my comrade true. In peace my comrade true!”
Charles

Alien music of remembrance? Somehow I could not modify the newest posting, but could delete it. That IP address is now banned.
