Dear All,
I made it to Santa Fe. I live in Courtyard Mariott hotel. This Mariott brand is much better than the one in San Francisco, It is a lovely hotel in Adobe style with a swimming poll. They had even a snack here and there is a refrigerator in the room, not like before.
Santa Fe is a lovely town, not too hot. hope to have more time tomorrow to visit around.
How many of you did visit Santa Fe before?

Hi Jaga -
I was in Albuquerque a few months ago as I visited friends and hiked in Arizona and New Mexico. I couldn't bring myself to leave Alaska longer than 2 weeks and the time was pretty full, so I came up just 7 or 10 miles south of Santa Fe and drove south along country roads to enjoy the magnificent landscape. Santa Fe has a reputation for being magnificent and I wish to visit the city properly, not in a hurried manner.
I was visiting with a friend in Albuquerque and he said the freeway between the two cities can be extremely busy during rush hour, so I am happy to hear you are in Santa Fe and not commuting as you originally expected. I will definitely be returning to the area!

Jaga,
I have been to Santa Fe a number of times. Lots of arts and crafts there. I think there is still an eagles nest near it. Many artists live there.

Hi, Jaga, Glad you're OK. How is your new job? I visited Santa Fe and Albuquerque at company conventions many years ago before I retired. I enjoyed the scenery and beautiful arts & crafts. I think that you and your family will enjoy living there after relocation. Cheers. Carl

Jaga
You are so fortunate to travel! I have read of Santa Fe, but have never to travel there. It is good of the beauty, for this is double nice when you are working, it will make you feel good after work to enjoy the area.
I was not aware you were to relocate to there? As I understood you were to train there with the new company for a time, then to return to your home in Idaho for your new work.
It would sound though, that either place is nice with perhaps not the snow in Santa Fe to deal with...just lovely sunshine...

Hey Jaga....make the most of your stay as much as possible. Watch out as all those snacks will cost a small fortune unless it's on company tab then rack it up.

Jaga, I asked you about relocation because some friends were originally asked to train in the company headquarters of their respective new employers, then work at home or in their home town. However, after they completed training, the new employers changed their minds. They relocated with their families and worked in the company headquarters. I'm saying you need to be prepared in case your new employer changes their mind. Carl

hi guys,
relocation is not on my mind since John has a job in IF. The company headquarters are in Santa Fe but they have also the office in Idaho Falls. But if John for some reasons would find a job in Los Alamos I would not mind to relocate since it is beautiful here and the weather is also very nice.

Guys, I am back in Idaho Falls. All travel went well. In the Pocatello airport which was my final destination they were just welcoming home a soldier from Iraq. I will have a picture to show it. I need to overcome a fear of driving on the highway. I had to drive back from Pocatello to Idaho Falls (50 miles) and I had all the symptoms of the highway anxiety or panic I did do it but I drove slower than other people - probably 60 miles instead of 75 and everybody was overtaking me. I understand that my driving is a hazard. I am especially nervous driving on the bridges. If you know a way to overcome it please tell me I know that I did not really need to drive until I was over 30, still my brothers and some friends from Poland never had this problem.

Jaga....now you know my predicament. Only mine started only a few years ago. The best way I deal with it is try to meet half way. Sometimes I am successful and sometimes not. Don't let the other cars intimidate you. Stay over the right lane and let them pass you if they are in such a hurry. I hate bridges too but its worse if I am stuck in traffic on one.

Chris, of course I understand you because for me driving was even worse in the past. Recently I felt so comfortable driving here in IF that I thought that I may be ready for the next challenge. But this is not the case yet. Driving on the highways or driving in a rented car in a new city is not something I enjoy. I remember you talking that you do not like driving in express roads. I understand you. I think, the traffic where you live is much worse than here.
