Why this day is important in Polish calendar? On July 22, 1944, the Red Army crossed the Bug River and began moving into what Stalin recognized as Polish territory.

Why this day is important in Polish calendar? On July 22, 1944, the Red Army crossed the Bug River and began moving into what Stalin recognized as Polish territory. John, I will always remember July 22 because it was a Polish national holliday for a long time. Soviets form the first Polish temporary government in Lublin on this day. Unfortunately it was still long before the end of the war. The Warsaw uprising did not even start yet.
