Unlike Hitler, the Russian rulers have no ambitions to rule the world. What they want, is to rule vast areas of influence as did the Soviet Union in the past. In other words, the Cold War II is well on, but the West has not yet woke up to this new reality. The Russians are now aided by renegade caciques like Hugo Chavez, who during Cold War I were hamstrung, but who can now act with impunity. Putin is also aided by the gullible Western powers, who "see no evil" as they saw no evil before World War II. These greedy powers are only concerned about their own economies. In short, the world is now sleeping while Russia is on the attack. Georgia was the Lexington shot for the Russians, telling them that NATO is in disarray, telling them to press ahead with their hegemonic plans. Georgia made a fool of herself not in pulling the Bear's tail, which was OK, but in not foreseeing that the convoy would be coming through the Roki tunnel! Only half dozen planes would have been enough to knock down those tanks in an astounding victory that would have gone to the history annals! It's not rocket science; it's Strategy 101. It was done during War World II. The tanks were advancing in a single file, hundreds of them. They were an easy prey. A single Red Baron-type pilot would have caused great havoc. The Georgians didn't move a finger to stop them! I wonder what were the American advisers doing. But going back to the topic: I still believe that Russia is not omnipotent! Had Georgia been admitted to NATO, Putin would probably be in the Hague today, not as a guest, but as an inmate, accused of genocide. Russia cannot be allowed to bully the world! I read today that a Russian spokesman has declared Latin America Russia's "zone of influence," and has warned the U.S. that such is no longer their sole turf. All this has to be dealt with! Either the Western nations reconstitute their former alliances and stick together, as they did during Cold War I, or Russia will soon rule the world!
