Yea, I also trembled at the weapons of mass destruction that Iraq had when they also had no means of delivery. Isn't it great that GW Busher had the foresight to wipe out dem weapons before they were used on US?
We grew up with a nation bent on destroying us, a nation with weapons and means of delivery. We survived that. Why do we worry about these petty dangers? It does make good propaganda for war, however.
Now our troops are all exhausted and stretched to the limit, so we don't have much choice but an air strike or a misslie strike against Iran. Let's use a bunch of our surplus nukes and send a lot of martyrs to Paradise & let God sort them out. We will still have a lot of other bunches of nukes for other bad guys.

Charles,
However, Iran directly links America to Israel. So we should be prepared. And the nuclear drift from an explosian can pollute other non participating countries. If we could leave them to play with the camels it would be great. But they keep on pushing and killing.

We ahve plenaty of links and quite strong ones, but how so through Iran? Then also, for what should we be prepared? That is very general and meaningless by itself. Kai

Kai,
Because we are seen as the supporters of Israeli efforts in the Arab world we are directly linked to them. The Arab cry is kill all Israelies and Americans. We are infidels in there eyes.

I see, Jim. That is all natural. We chose our politics and then take the good and the bad that come with it.

Kai,
It is not political for me. If you are trying to kill me I will defend my self. Now extrapolate that to a town, state, nation.

Holly,
You have a special reason to be afraid. When does your son start his tour of duty there?

Holly, You have a special reason to be afraid. When does your son start his tour of duty there? He has been in Iraq for about a week. He is in the Al Faw palace complex - well into the green zone! As long as he stays there he is fairly safe. If you google Al Faw you can find pictures of the place. Wayne actually talked to him and he is doing fine. Only 360 some odd days to go. Thanks for asking

Holly,
I will keep your son in my prayers. My son in law was there twice and will be going back after his tour in Russia. He is a US Marine. I had a friend Scott Helvenston (Navy SEAL) who was killed there on 31 March 2004. Still miss him.

I will add your son-in-law to mine. May your good memories of Scott bring you comfort - I hope we never forget those "who gave all." Chris (the "Holly" Chris)

Jim I really do not understand why the US have to put interests of Israel over their own. Iran is a very old civilization, people there are not stupid, except their president. But I do not understand why a huge Iran which is at least partly democratic (on the contrary Saudi Arabia is not democratic at all) should not be allowed to have nuclear power while Israel is allowed. America cannot be a quard of the world because it would produce more hate than benefits for everybody. Israel overreacted in the case of Iraq. His bad intelligence was feeding the hawks to start Iraqi wars... in the time when Saddam was already confined and Kurds had already their state, so I am very reluctant to give Israel such a superior treatment.

Jim How so well I do respect your input and opinons of mind set, and there is nothing wrong with it. I would like to agree with you, but, I may not. My input is moderated, for the sake of Hollie in respect to the fears of her son. I am very sorry for her and do sincerly trust, that her son will return to her, safely... Charles Charles, Please, please do not feel that you have to censor yourself/or your thoughts on my or my son's behalf. After all, part of why he is there and why I am proud of him for being there - and proud of my husband's service as well, is for a person's right to be able to speak out and talk about issues such as this. So please discuss away.

Some interesting facts on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are to be found in the telegraph UK article. Quotes: When an aircraft crashed in Teheran last month, killing 108 people, Mr Ahmadinejad promised an investigation. But he also thanked the dead, saying: "What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow. The most remarkable aspect of Mr Ahmadinejad's piety is his devotion to the Hidden Imam, the Messiah-like figure of Shia Islam, and the president's belief that his government must prepare the country for his return. The speech ended with the messianic appeal to God to "hasten the emergence of your last repository, the Promised One, that perfect and pure human being, the one that will fill this world with justice and peace". www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/01/14/wiran14.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/01/14/ixworld.html
