For the last week, I have been having a bad-hair day with one of my PC's. It would boot up and then go into a perpetual loop and go to screen for safe boot. Couldn't figure it out for a week. Turned out to be the video driver was stuck in a perpetual loop. Removed the video card, got rid of the driver and turned on the on-board vide card and ll is well. Where's my Zubrowka !!!!!!!

Are you good at fixing you PC or do you need tech support. (don't ever listen to AOL tech help) I always seemed to have PC trouble on my day off. Being the person I am I had to get to the root of the problem and would spend a whole perfect day getting frustrated to death before I would find a solution. So I am very familiar with the feeling John. Glad you got it fixed.

Hi Chris I am sorry to hear, yet in another way pleased about your AOL Technical Help dislike - on two occasions when I took their advice I lost on the first occasions all my carefully stored emails and on the second my address book. So they are the last people I go to. I am on AOL Broadband, changed to it last September so I'm stuck with them for 12 months. I have a major complaint and was told to go to the Vice-President for Customer Services with the complaint in writing - did so and that was early in January - still no reply. I emailed the Payments to try to find out (address in the AOL keywords) - it was the wrong email address, so I found out the correct one and two weeks later received a reply telling me to go to FAQ!! So I have written to the AOL President giving my complaint, complaining about the lack of service to a long-standing member from his VP and his accounts department - ten days ago - you've guessed it, no reply. But I'm stuck with them until next September!! Leslie

This was one of them. Now my daughter has purchased a new Apple. The one with the dual intel processor. Another learning curve. We will hook up all of these pc's via wireless. There are 5 now.

Leslie...next time you need to get help on AOL email this guy SpidersWebSite (screenname) and if you save it in your address book it will show up as a live link which you can click on and it will take you to his profile where you can see some of his work. I have used the mesage boards for PC Help on AOL and he has always responded and has helped me almost alwasy with resolving something AOL could not. (they read from Manuals when you call and can't understand them casue they all are in India) Spider appears to be a techie geek that enjoys pc's. I think he is in UK also.
Your dreaded experiences with AOL are typical with all users, me included. When I have anything to say complaints etc I go to Keyword and type in "tell us what you think". This will open a box that you will be able to address your complaint or whatever and someone will respond with a formal email but at least you will have sent the message across to AOL. (I love it when they respond with an answer that has nothing to do with what you asked them about ;D) Also if you go to message boards in Community and post a problem in the catagory someone will respond with a better answer than AOL. Granted sometimes you must call AOL but never uninstall AOL and reinstall. That is just a quick fix cause they know not what to do and are just hoping it will self correctt. But in the process you will have lost much data if you first don't save it....as in your addressbook. You should not have lost that though. (one save guard is to just open your addressbook first. Click on write mail...enter each address and then print it out. You will have a list of all your addresses but will then need to reenter them manually once you are back up.
John...I was curious as the video driver is not a common thing to decide was the problem unless you are advanced in IT to resolve issue. Good for you. Sometimes I do a Google and might get lucky with finding a solution posted somewhere.

Czesc Chris Many thanks for the information and advice - I have not only noted your advice but also printed it out to go on my pinboard! How can you send a complaint letter (twice) to a Vice-President of a an organization as big as AOL and not even receive a response; the same seems to be happening with the President too - they say go to the top - yuk!!! When I lost the address book, I went to www.aol.co.uk and it was on there so I copied it and then when I (not AOL) had sorted the problem out with the missing address book page, I was able to copy from the other AOL and paste. Yah-Boo to AOL.com! One occasion the whole of aol went kaput before I had a chance to copy 'organise'' and the other one over to my computer - that's how I lost all my emails. I am now waiting to September and AOL can go ***** - I've heard very good things about Tiscali - they're advertising a lot at the moment in the UK - based in Italy and they quote they are European wide, so they may print Polish diacritics!!! Again - Dziekuje Bardzo Sir Leslie, KHCB
