Pieter
Whilst this morning thinking, the machinery of thought broke and is Kaputt. As of an act of desperation, I were to look into the endless information supply of Google. Whilst riding upon the effects of seemingly endless disappointment, the following poem of Birthday was exact of a fit of my thoughts. I do trust with great hope you will mind not, that this is not an original.
Birthday Blessings
Instead of counting candles, Or tallying the years, Contemplate your blessings, As your birthday nears.
Consider special people Who love you, and who care, And others who’ve enriched your life Just by being there.
Think about the memories Passing years can never mar, Experiences great and small That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift, So cut your cake, and say, "Instead of counting birthdays, I count blessings every day!"

Thank you Tim, JJ, Neville, Jaga, Holly and Karl.
And thank you for the poem Karl, you come from a nation with great poets!
Holly, I hope that you are OK and that 2009 will be a good year for you!
Jaga, thanks for the info, I will think a little bit about my Polish and Dutch grandmothers today, because they were great women!
Today I am calm and tranquil, trying to get better and e-mailing with a good girlfriend who returned from a New-Mexico and Arizona trip with her French-Canadian (not Quebecian, but continental European French immigrant who settled in Canada and became Canadian) lover. He went back to Canada and she to Holland, and it must be a difficult time appart after that Romantic christmas and start of this year. So I was glad to hear her stories and am curious for her images, and for the rest I am reading a book today.
I called off the small diner party I wanted to give today and will concentrate on a party saturday evening with more friends and colleages.
Being ill means missing your job, I should be at the radio right now. Have a good day and week folks!

January 21 is also a grandmother day in Poland. Dzien Babci - it is a very nice celebration i have never heard of this. that is nice. thanks for sharing jaga. when i was in poland with my mother we were looking out for babci's. they all dress similar (like my own babci's) and we enjoyed spotting them. i'm glad poland honors them that way. Happy birthday Pieter!

Pieter,
It is my pleasure. I find it fascinating to search and see how different countries may present themselves, and happy birthday is a good, universal wish to compare.
