;D I looked in my e-mail the other day and the Ring Nebula hoax is again making the rounds. The e-mail says that NASA sighted the object a short while ago: here is my response to the sender and all the addees. Sorry this is a myth and hoax. The Ring Nebula (M57) in Lyra is one of the best known planetary nebulae. M57 lies between to relatively bright stars, Beta and Gamma lyrae. It shines at magnitude 9.7. If you get the e-mail about NASA discovering "The Eye Of God" just be aware that this is a myth at best or just another plain hoax.

that photo is very dramatic, though, isn't it Bob? Do you have the link to the picture of M57?

;D OK Nancy, standby because I have a lot of info in this thread. There is a photo of the Ring Nebula in the Dec. issue of Astronomy Magazine. The other nebula that has a very close resemblence to the Ring is the Helix Nebula (NGC-7293) in the Aquarius constallation. To see this nebula go to: www.hubblesite.orgselect Picture Album and on that site , select Nebulae. Go to pages 4, 6, 11 and 15. The photos of the Helix are there. The Ring Nebula was there at one time and it may have been one of their show case photos On the Hubble site you will find Wallpaper to download, Games to play, A whole lot of photos and a lot of info for persons in the Education Field. Of course everything is "free to download". You will find other albums and there are some very exotic things to see. Have fun but don"t get lost in Time or Space on this site.
