Scientist: My quake prediction was ignoredL'AQUILA, Italy (CNN) -- A researcher says he predicted Monday's devastating earthquake that killed dozens of people and left tens of thousands homeless in central Italy, but authorities dismissed him as a scaremonger. Gioacchino Giuliani, an employee at a physics institute at Gran Sasso, near the badly-hit city of L'Aquila, has demanded an official apology for what he says was an unforgivable failure to act on his predictions. "There are people who must apologize to me, and they must have the weight of what occurred on their conscience," Giuliani said after the quake hit, according to local news site Ilcapoluogo.com. Last month, vans with loudspeakers drove around the area broadcasting Giuliani's warning after he claimed his method of predicting seismic events by radon gas emissions had forecast an imminent quake. The scientist was reported to police for spreading false alarms and was made to remove his findings from the Internet. "They called me an imbecile," he said. www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/04/06/italy.quake.prediction/

It's terrible for the loss of human lives and for the loss of cultural heritage. A lot of churches, beautiful buildings and fresco's are destroyed!
I love Italy, because it is one of the most beautiful European countries with a very nice Catholic population.
One of the few traditional European countries with old arts and crafts, hand made products, and beautiful cities, towns and villages.

These things are difficult to say, if the man was correct, or the man was simply just out right lucky, who knows...For how ever, I would certainly not depend upon the same results in future.
As of Pieter, also do I enjoy and like Italy. Our difference in enjoyment will differ. For I am not endeared by art objects or buildings.
It is the people I do enjoy, for they are for the most part, a very happy people and an enjoyment to be with. And the food! Oh my, it is so varied and delicious. I would if left too long, out size my cloths within the month, and this is indeed! For every thing from the wine to the pasta and bread, is so good..
It is though, a toss around, in-as-much of style in clothing. The Italians and as so also, the French, are so very style conscience and makes us to look as of beggars in flappy clothing...
I am not speaking of just the ladies,,but also they do look very nice rather dressed for work or for every day...but the mens styling. For how ever the conditions, they seem to know what to wear.. And they do not looked like stuffed mannequins.
But,,,now not the equal {well perhaps just a bit} to the specialty tailer shops in Paris. Now that is a treat! For from the conference with the tailer{s} to the measure up, then to fitting for final, and then the grand march of conpletion......
If the personal ego is very flat prior, I will guarantee upon stepping out into the sun-shine with a new suit, the ego will fly high with the birds....and the smile will out shine your shoes, and this is for sure....
Is not life so wonderful!
